None of this is necessary anymore. In 2023 there's a node operator called "Backdrop" that creates a parametric backdrop. Just lookup "Backdrop" in the asset browser and drag it into your scene.

You can do things in many ways in c4d, most things are not necessary.

@@doseofmotion Mine does not have this asset and by the way, this was the faster way I could create a Backdrop! Thank you very much!!

Only problem with this, the smoothness of that curve is terrible and always shows lines in render (especially in C4D lite version without the backdrop node thing)

Select the spline and change Intermediate Points to Uniform and increase the Numbers of points. Let me know if it works.
