Create a Nearpod Lesson (Walk-through)

In this video I bring you along with me as I create 2 nearpod lessons. One using the nearpod library and one from scratch. Nearpod can be overwhelming to navigate at first, but once you get the hang of it you can create one quickly. I love using nearpod in my special education classroom and the students find it engaging. Come create a lesson on nearpod with me, I walk you through each step in an easy to understand way that will have you creating your own lesson in no time. Have questions?? Please let me know in the comments!

About Me: I am a high school special education teacher at a cyber charter school. This means we are all virtual, all the time! I work in what would be considered a life skills or self-contained program in a typical brick and mortar school. This means my students are working several grade levels below their peers. I mainly teach reading classes and the students rotate through several teachers in our department for other subjects. A lot of my students and their families have chosen virtual learning due to bullying at their local school or a high number of medical and therapy appointments that make attendance at a typical school difficult. I also teach English as a Second Language online to kids in China through several different companies. I can do this before/after school and on the weekends. I have the BEST students in the world :)

    Thank you for taking the time to show how to use this app. I just received an email from the District that we are going to be using this in Canvas. I made my Canvas classroom but I am not using it because it is so unfriendly to its users. Google Classroom is much more streamlined and it has a grade book. But I've digressed. This is an excellent instructional video. Thank you. Now only if someone made the content to share with students for my curriculum, then would I be in heaven. LOL!

    Yes you will get ALL of that data! If you do a draw it activity (like a worksheet) you will be able to see their worksheet, quiz or poll or open ended questions you will see as well.

  • @elizabethpineda3442

    Great energy, I love it! If we have the live version going on and there's a worksheet or a quiz, do students get to see what other students are writing? I would like for them to have the assignment finished by the end of the 80 min lesson (we are required 80 min/period - I teach high school) so I was thinking of making the worksheet available for them to work on in google classroom and submit it there. In google classroom I create a copy for each student and I can see how much each student got done 'in class' and make it due at a certain time and it would tell me who turned it in late. Also helps for students who miss the live session (absent) but are still allowed to make up the assignment. Can the live lesson be then pushed out as a 'student paced lesson' after class is over so kids can go over it again or for the absent students? What happens to the worksheet/quiz they answered in the live session? Do they have to do it again?

  • @TeacherBrett

    @TeacherBrett

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes you could push it out as student paced after your live lesson! Any of the work submitted during the live lesson would be available for you to review as part of your data after the session. Students would not see the worksheets of everyone else only there own during the live class. There is the option to do a collaboration board which would be something all students could see during the live lesson though if you were looking for students to share answers on the board or something like that.

    @@TeacherBrett great, thanks. If I then push it out as a student paced lesson and I had the board activity in the live session, will the student be able to submit a board answer in the student-paced version? Then when I go back to see the answers for board, quiz, etc, will EVERYTHING be available in the student-paced version? I wouldn't be looking up answers in the live version, right?
