The copycat step doesn’t actually have any custom textures, but what it does for example on the square side is take the 4x4 pixels from each corner of the block and uses them for the texture. You can see this on the bookshelf. In a copycat step, it looks like the books are cut in half.

@@Kraus- Well, 0.5 added the entire train system and steam engines as well as overhauling a lot of old functionality. We used to use furnace engines for end-game power, which were very powerful for not a lot of fuel cost. It was particularly broken when considering you could use mods like IE to make generators that gave you 64kSU essentially for free. I had a design that used 4 furnaces surrounding an IE furnace heater that make a lot of rotational power for less than 100RF/t. To be fair, they weren't that cheaper to make than steam engines, still needing a lot of brass in mechanical crafters.

me too! its so intuitive, it feels like everything is done w intention and nothing is arbitrary, it really helps with instant comprehension i couldn't wrap my head around the other tech mods like I could create

I believe it is because the create stuff is intuitive. A pulley does exactly what you would expect a pulley does. A conveyor belt does exactly what a conveyor belt is expected to do. Etc. I would not be surprised if one of the key mantras the create developers is "it does what it says on the tin". In the opposite direction you have redstone. Which just looks like random blocks to people who don't already know; and they are impossible for people to figure out without extensive outside help. Like the comparator, for example. It doesn't compare anything, ever, and it never did. Comparators translate a block's state into a redstone signal. A better name for the comparator would be translator. While still confusing, would make sense to anyone who played around with it. At least with translator you can look at the block and play around with it, to figure out what it does. Comparators are a prime case where it does not do what it says on the tin.

The comparator can also compare two different input strengths, one from the side and one from the front, and give out an redstone signal by subtracting the two inputs (torch on) or just give a signal, if one is greater then the other input (torch off). But I get your Point, Resdstone is not that initutive.

The elevator pulley seems great, although I do admit I'll miss the circuits and such that people would make to get an elevator working before this

Finally someone added framed blocks that actually take both sides of the block and fuse them together to fix the problem where half-blocks with bordered textures don't look right. Classic create, always doing things properly!

Great job on getting this video out so quickly! I'm really happy about the elevator pulley, this makes things so much simpler! Oh and vertical slabs!

I really am liking the ability to open chests and barrels on blocks but I especially love the rollers. Those are so cool.

​@@hersical its... like my über train was built for this... not kidding btw, i have been experimenting with a train design that recycles its own tracks and builds ground underneath it while mining all blocks in front of it. Unfortunately this wont change the original design that much (its also built to break water sources in front of it while driving), but i can make a miniture variant now.

@@higgsbonbon Not automatically turn, no, but you can turn off track placement/drilling and move your tunnel bore to a tunnel location without messing up your tracks.

The copycat blocks are amazing. It is a great solution to how a lot of mod blocks don't work quite right with Create contraptions, especially other mods that have similar functions.

cool update. I'd like it if a pick would function on scaffolding as shown, leaving all other blocks in tact, but using the wrench could break it all like vanilla.

Also the waterwheels only needing one block to work is a clever change since it means the more aesthetically pleasing / realistic looking setups no longer come at the expense of losing out on some efficiency.

I love the fact that every update to this mod is packed with good ideas, even the QoL ideas are genius. Seriously, this is such a level of professionalism and commitment to making this mod so polished that it always amazes me how this can all be for free. Microsoft/Mojang should be ashamed of charging for inferior quality addons in the Bedrock Marketplace when compared to free mods like Create (of course they have no shame at all).

@@somdudewillson yeah but sometimes when big companies like spongebob make their own marketplace content, the marketplace button on the menu screen gets a cool animation advretising the product, and they also advertise alot of the marketplace content on their yt channel

The straight fill below mode of the mechanical roller can be really useful for things like drying out an ocean monument

Blocks like the 'copycats' have not been seen in mods or modpacks in years. Last time i saw something similar was back in 1.7.10 with the Carpenter's Blocks mod. I'm glad to see something like them return to the height of the modding scene. I just hope they resolve that crashing and corrupting issue since Carpenter's Blocks never had that and i'm sure with time they can find a solution.

nah, framed blocks is a modern version of carpenters blocks, which worked great with create in 1.19. But it just doesn't seem as well known

@@IceMetalPunk He is about the Carpenter's Blocks mod, which was to say kind of unstable and unsupportive of many modded blocks

My favorite feature is actually one, you did not mention. When you have two pieces of curved track, separated by only a single normal track piece, the track piece will try to better align with the slopes. This helps smooth out vertical inclines for trains.

I'm only four minutes in, but this is already a HUGE update and I'm SOOO excited to jump in and mess around with all the new stuff! The Create team is one of the best mod teams I've seen in Minecraft history, no exaggeration. Edit: Okay, now I'm _eight_ minutes in. My jaw dropped at the elevator blocks even allowing you to _choose which doors open on which floors???_ That attention to detail is insane!! AND they basically just implemented the features of another entire *_mod_* as a "small quality-of-life addition" with the Copycat (aka. Illusion) Blocks! I want to send this dev team flowers, I swear. 😭

Godamn this update is absolutely insane in the QOL department :o. I feel like they just took the best mod out there and just made it better

The new scaffolding not collapsing when unsupported suggests to me that it might be in part intended for *catwalks,* which it'd definitely be quite well-suited to! Copycat panels could also be used for the same thing, but this solution strikes me as a bit simpler. EDIT: Also, that clipboard is the best thing ever. And the pumps no longer swapping direction based on rotation direction is... well, there's almost certainly some lost utility there, since reversing a pump by reversing rotation is almost certainly easier than reversing the pump by point a deployer at it, but speaking personally, literally every single time I've set up a pump with Create, I've wound up hooking it up backwards due to rotation direction, and I imagine I am *far* from the only person who regularly has this issue. So, I ain't complaining!

I'm also gonna miss the good use-case of reversing the pump direction to push or pull liquids back and forth... I at least hope they could make a config option for this, but everything else is just outstanding

​@@blokbustri think for the sake of flexibility/diversity they could add another type of pump with those functions instead of a config option because that would change all pumps in the world instead of a few you might want depending on build.

I knew the people working on the Create mod paid attention to detail when I saw the in-game animated documentation, but this update took my appreciation to another level! I love the juicy details like the custom textures for the part blocks and the satisfying way the UI clicks.

Keeping up with good mod updates is one of the only reasons to still keep up with modern minecraft updates

@@pablobogopablogames2270 honestly i don´t know what you are complaining about. the only update that was maybe lacking a bit was 1.15. every other brought long awaited features, reworks and changes to the game without changing the whole direction of the game. also you shouldn´t underestimate the amount of work they do in the background, rewriting and optimizing the game engine, plus the dev team has to realize all these in two different versions with different programming languages.

I am time and time again impressed by the create devs. Stuff like the copy cat block existed in other mod packs for years, but never as simple and smoothly as it works in create. They always take stuff that existed and make it 10 times more easy to understand/ accssess in their builds

fun fact: you can also move elevators by commands: /data modify block ColumnTarget set value x y z = xyz of any elevator contact - doesn't matter which y level it's on newY = where the elevator should go

I'm hyped just for the elevator features. Before I had to get extremely complicated with 3 different redstone signals, now it happens by itself and I don't have to re learn everything! Also another proof that the devs are set to make the best mod ever, they added carpenter's which is one of those mods that you'd really use if you like building.

That mechanical roller seems sooo useful. Can't wait to use it! Also to me the copycat piston looks so cursed lol 🤣

that netherite diving suit would be so much cooler to use if there was more under the nether lava, like imagine exploring some deep abyssal trench in full of lava and weird lifeforms

The water wheels are a game changer lol. I love the doors. Hyped for the update. Create is unironically the best content mod ever created for Minecraft (Obviously JEI is the best overall). I hope the addon mods will be compatible by the end of the year.

The copycat blocks are amazing for trains

As much as all of these are wonderful additions, I think my favorite is being able to climb rope pulleys. The large waterwheels are a close second, but there's just so much charm in being able to slide down a rope into a different part of your factory or base.

this is so cool! I am still hoping for the ability to change the wood type of gearboxes and chain drives! And by woodtypes i mean the casing type. Having them in bass, copper or train casing styles would be so great as they are used everywhere but are only in andesite type and sometimes dont really fit the theme of a build

Already read the patch notes before those video but still stopped by because of your awesome presentation of the Create Mod. Keep at it, man!

Another good QoL feature would be the ability to click pipes with a wrench to sever their connections to adjacent blocks or pipes, allowing for more compact transportation of different fluids without having to window the pipes or space them apart

It's so exciting! You might want to hold off on doing that manual update though. A lot of Create add-on devlopers need some time to update their code to work with this Create update. At the moment you won't be able to run the game if you have any of them installed.

The new elevators are something I've been wanting for so long, there were plenty of mods that could make elevators before including create but the potential with this new system is just awesome

This... is insane! The amount of features you have implemented is on the level of another world. It reminds me of Thaumcraft and all its addons.

A few things you missed to mention: - Pulse repeaters and alike now allow delays up to an hour (Previously only 30 minutes). Their interface now also splits into ticks, seconds and minutes with each going up to 60. - Train stations also have this door option like the elevator contact - Rollers may not have the block drop an item (I assume behaviour similar to a unenchanted tool) - This is an assumption, but I believe the flow rate of fluids in pipes was increased? - Smart observers can observe a funnel for any entering/exiting item, which afaik is new behaviour. - Stockpile switches can observe a rope pulley and tell its... length?

With each passing update, this mod just keeps getting better. Can’t wait to try this out!

i love this so much! create, while amazing, sucked to build around at times and to get power from while remaining anestheticly pleasing, and elevators were a pain, this fixes all sorts of building issues!

I can already feel like some of these implementations is to prepare for create aeronautics (or maybe I’m delusional after all this time waiting for it) I can already see the new doors and copy cat steps being used in airships BEAUTIFULLY.

The elevator addition is… so useful.

with that scaffold not breaking all together I think you could do amazing scaffolding attached to buildings! I can see myself using it while adding details to cities in valleys

So much amazing new stuff and changes! With those contraption controllers and interactable chests on contraptions, it feels like we're a step closer to arbitrarily moving sub-contraptions, which would be great for setting up, for example, fallout-style vault doors that roll out of the way
