And it's so thankless. Like... Us EMT's, Medics, etc, get swung at and spit on and cussed out, we see things... But we're shown appreciation just as much. We have our sweet patients that love us, the community members will thank us randomly... These guards don't really get any of that. They're probably forgotten half the time. Surrounded by inmates that hate them, in depressing surroundings. Such strong men and women. They deserve better from all of us. They deserve recognition ❤ you just inspired me to come up with some way of showing them we appreciate what they do. Even just dropping off a thank you card from the community would matter, buy them lunch, coffee...

I work in a juvenile correction facility.. the average person has no idea what it's like.. There are good days, but I've had some very, very bad days there too..

I watched the entire Darrell Brooks trial. It was beyond cringeworthy. Judge Jennifer Dorow is a saint for her patience.

@@janinemcdonnell9221 I believe she was given an award of some kind for her demeanour and professionalism during his trial. The main reason given as to why she had so much patience with him, was because she wanted to ensure there would be no room for Darell to say he wasn't given a fair trial. As much of a headache as it was, it paid off. Everyone got to see what a deranged man Brooks actually was, and the stoicism of the judge gave him room to believe he was being taken seriously. A masterclass in being a judge IMO

However I still feel she was too lenient with his behaviour in the court room.

I know none of these cases, I live overseas, but think the loudest and most obnoxious were the ones that the judges had to listen to because they were supposed to act as their own attorney. If one is to defend themselves, a judge can't do much, as they still retain the right to defend themselves in a court of law, even if they just dig a bigger hole for themselves in reality. Which is at least a consolation, they have one last chance to be obnoxious, but no chance to get themselves out of this.

They're not allowed to do that but either the judge didn't see it or the judge didn't handle it, but it's normally not allowed and most judges wouldn't tolerate it. I think the judge didn't see it. I've seen judges go off about this type of thing and kick them out of the court room

The judge didn't see his gestures. She did, however, hear the mom yelling. It's pretty common in court for family to lose their cool and have to be brought out. But it's very uncommon for the court to actually prosecute them for that (they "get" why they lost their temper).

I still think life in prison, no parole, is a worse punishment than the death sentence. Having to sit in a cage (basically) 23 hours a day has got to be much worse than just being put to sleep. That's too easy.

Brooks was recently moved from Dodge to a maximum security prison - 23/7 locked down - meals in his cell. I hear he was a horrific prisoner at Dodge that includes **gassing** guards which means throwing body products at them, also was tazed several times. His mom and Miss Mary must be so proud.

I think it's determined by the degree/type of murder too. I don’t think there's any one specific number. It depends how they are being charged. Can also depend on State/Country laws too, which vary. But premeditated murder? It should honestly be just one. But again...variences. Some killers make a deal to show the location of the body to grease the wheels for less jail time/no death sentence in exchange for closure to the families of the victim. You ever been in a criminal courtroom? Im a former criminal lawyer and I have. But i know you havent. Its not like youve seen on tv. Its unbelievably emotional, even in cases that are non-violent. You think its a show. Its not. And luckily for you, you’ll likely never have to experience what it is like. I gave up the practice od criminal law because it is brutal on the human psyche and crimes are brutal on most perpetrators, something that many of them dont realise until they step into that court room and start to feel the awesome power of the State. People like you have a right to an opinion - even though your opinion is based on ignorance and is uninformed by experience. But i have a right- no, a duty - to tell you you know nothing about how people really react in the face of terrible crimes and their consequences.

Just imagine O’Neals son - that poor young man - his entire close family, obliterated at the hands of a POS psychopath. The same one that forced him to testify. No mother, no siblings, no father, and he himself was attacked and traumatized. I certainly hope he was placed with a loving family who will keep his mother and sisters memory alive for him. I hope the same for all of the poor children and loved ones who were innocent casualties of these monsters.
