CRAZY Mangrove Snapper Fishing (Dropped GoPro Down To Bottom) - How To Tie A Chicken Rig

In this video, I went fishing with my buddies Cameron and ‪@JCFishin2021‬ 18 miles offshore of Tampa Bay, Florida in search of BIG mangrove snapper. We used chicken rigs with shrimp to target the snapper on ledges and hard bottom in 60' of water. It didn't take long for the snapper action to fire up! Jason even dropped his GoPro down to the bottom to see what fish were down under the boat. At the end of the video, I teach you step by step how I tie my chicken rigs for offshore snapper bottom fishing.

Easier way: try tying a dropper loop with a starting point of the same twisting of the line to form a rigid standoff like you did. It is much quicker and I think is actually a better knot for the hook placement.

Love that rig for catching snapper, I am going to try it out. Do grouper still hit it that far off the bottom?

What do you do with all that snapper you caught? Are you gonna do a catch and cook video? I know i keep asking you to do so and I apologize for that. I've never cooked fish before. Also would mutton snapper be in the same location you caught all those snappers in this video? Looking forward to the next one. Have a good day/night sir.

We ended up keeping 7 snapper total this day. The guys each took two and then I gave two to family and then kept one for myself. And it is VERY rare to hear of muttons being caught around Tampa Bay, they’re mostly down south and along the East coast of Florida. Have a good night as well!

Great catch! The biggest surprise was seeing a Salt Strong guy NOT using and up selling a plastic scam-shady bait for a change. 🤡
