Its absolutely illegal. But till now there are many rural areas in India where farmers sell their wives and daughters due to unable to repay their loans taken from "paisawala"(rich people who provides loan against high rate of interest). Unfortunately corrupted authority doesn't take any action against those exploiters. Luckily some human rights organization and NGOs started highlighting these matters to the world but still in many region people are suffering these kind of exploitation because government failed in uplifting these poor farmers.

Wait a sec... high-heels rule in Greece perfectly makes sense: The majority of ancient ruins are made of soft limestone, and can be damaged by the pressure of high heels! Ancient roads, foundations of ancient buildings and whatever you accidentally step on. Makes sense to me!

On the note of Winnie the Pooh being "illegal" or "banned" in certain places of Poland is severily blown out of proportions. WIth some quick research, you'll find that the story was basically that the local government in a town in Poland (Tuszyn) was looking to have a mascot for a local playground. The local government had a meeting where they talked about the fact that Pooh doesn't wear pants and have no genetalia, and is therefore a bad role-model for kids. So they decided not have Winnie the Pooh as the mascot for the playground. I really cannot find any mention of them "banning any images of Winnie the Pooh from the whole town" or anything. Please check your facts, Infographics Show! Also, that part were Buddist monks are forbidden to re-incarnate in China is most likely a way for them to try and control Tibet, by controlling who would be the next Dalai Lama (and Panchen Lama), when the current one inevetably dies.

As a Japanese person, I confirm that there is no such law that states that being fat is illegal. I also looked up where the waistline numbers came from and the only thing I found was that it was the numbers used to indicate whether or not a person has metabolic syndrome or not. (If you're above that number, it's considered as you having it) I also asked my mom (who's almost 50) if she had to do any kind of mandatory health testing and she said that she didn't and even if there was one, there'd be no punishment for not doing it as she didn't get any.

I'm Indian. We don't have that law. Slavery and trafficking are illegal. Collateral can only be property. But people are not property. Thus, You obviously cannot make your wife your collateral. Even if it used to be a law during the British rule in India, it cannot be enforced as it violates basic human rights (what we call fundamental rights) enshrined on our constitution. No law can be in violation of fundamental rights. PS: I'm a lawyer.

But I do know that it’s illegal to shoot a cactus because here in Arizona, we are part of the Southwest, which it means it’s entirely desert and that we do want to protect our cactuses because they are unique and that they are living beings as well the same as us and animals.

In a pub league I played in there was so much abuse directed at refs that they introduced a "one pound fine for each occasion an official is sworn at" After a goal ruled out the striker called the ref a f...ing c... for which he was fined two quid. He appealed on the grounds that the fine was stated as per OCCASION not per WORD. He won and only paid a pound but then the two pound fine was reinstated when his remark was judged to have been directed at ref AND linesman !!

Actually the ban on high heels in Greece is understandable, some museums in for example Italy have the same ban, but it just isn't a countrywide law. High heels (here we mean stiletto heels with a really small point on the heel that touches the ground) exert a concentrated force on the ground below them, and marble (which most of the old antique sites in Greece are made out of) is not that good in withstanding them. The same with renaissance palaces turned into museums. Having people walk around in stiletto heels would leave the place with a floor marked with small dents all around.

There are many exceptions and it’s not like you get punished or something. But they get free treatment from a doctor and nutritionist that help the person to loose weight if he/she chooses to. It’s actually a pretty smart concept and one of the reasons why Japan has so few overweight people.
