The first contestant seems to have a liking to one of the judges. He probably joined the competition just to see her in person. He mentioned a name, Mia.

It's very risky to cover a Mariah Carey tune, because a young Mariah had one of the best voices the world has ever heard. But Marie Meyer Absolutely nailed it 😊

Agree that it is risky, disagree that Marie nailed it. It was some kind of rookie singing: following every note and melismatic symbol so religiously that the song looks like a vocal exercise.
