@@silky8267 No. The kitchen gets paid far more than the server's, and their job is to prepare the food to the server's specifications. Which means the server has more responsibility to run back and forth communicating all these requests. Even still, I know a lot of people who switched from serving to kitchen because the pay was more consistent and less demanding. The only reason people serve is because they're hoping to run into that one generous person who leaves a big tip. Most of the time, it evens out considering a lot of people leave the bare minimum and a lot of people don't tip at all. The server wage doesn't even cover taxes.

Once, someone asked for popcorn on ice, covered in chocolate, jalapenos and cheese. Someone asked for a burger deep fried in fish batter, then broiled. I've had a bunch of people ask for every soda in one cup (refills are a nightmare). Or the old person eating by their self, orders a kids meal, then five plates, three cups and five silverware. Bizarre.

This is why I don't work with people anymore... I was a technician for T-Mobile, worked retail for AT&T and as a sells consultant for Best Buy. I ran into people like her every day for 5 years and now I snap for any reason. I haven't been able to hold a job in retail cause as soon as I run into a customer like her I just snap. I don't act crazy I just shut down, close my mouth, get in my car and drive home, Lock my doors and never go back. Now I work for a Farm company cutting fields on tractors and it's beautiful. I never deal with these people anymore. Funny how I'd much rather be in the hot sun then be in a nice place dealing with these child adults.

Trust me, psychotic issues is a deep thing and even with the right meds, people like her can't act like people normally would. That's why the best way to handle situations like those are understand they operate under a different mindset and be patient overall. When people have autism, they can't control their thought patterns and behaviours that much. Bashing on those people, to me, just makes the "normal" people, us, a laughingstock. There's customers out there who, no matter how great or poor the service is, only come in to give you a hard time. They get off on talking down to and criticizing people because they're unhappy with their own lives. I feel sad for these people so I make sure I smile extra big and try to be as courteous as humanly possible...it makes them so mad lol. Kill em with kindness.

Bob Below I understand that but you also have to understand that these conditions are hard to notice unless you are aware of the person's disorder. You can't expect everyone to 1. Know of these conditions 2. Know the signs/symptoms of these conditions and 3. Be able to decipher whether the person actually is suffering from these mental disorders. That's just not realistic. Not everyone's a doctor.

***** My last response should make it obvious that I don't expect everyone to recognize and understand such conditions but to think that we can't make it as well known as, say, having a heart attack or suffering from tourette syndrome, is just cynical thinking. It's not hard to learn to recognize this behavior. You don't have to be a doctor. I'm not a doctor I've just taking a couple classes in psychology and researched the topic a bit on my own. The signs are really easy to pick up and they are easy to understand as well.

***** You're so right. There are actually many people like that. And that IS the best way to deal with them. Kill them with kindness, it really gets to them. They want to feel bigger than someone for once and tell them what to do, but when they realize that doesn't bother you at all, they move onto something else.

I'm a service manager at a Chipotle Mexican grill and this is light compared to some of the crazy customers we get, I had a customer the other day put a finger in my face and tell me that if I don't take the time to learn their pronouns that I shouldn't even have the right to live breathe or address them so consider it very lucky that this lady is calmly complaining about pepper and looking at something she's not right but she's not the craziest I've seen

Nah, I dealt with customers like her. The fact that people tolerate her crap, is why she keeps acting like that. Basically enabling her.(Being on the spectrum doesnt mean being rude) I worked in customer service/fast food/ retail/hospitality. I seen sooooo many people act like her. I wouldn't put up with shit, I would turn them away or call them out. Quickly does their tone change and behave themselves
