Crazy American versus Iron Ukrainian! Unbelievable comeback in the title fight! Landwehr vs Lezhnev

Спорт

In the main event of M-1 Challenge: Battle in Atyrau on December 15, 2018, reigning M-1 featherweight champion Nate “The Train” Landwehr (USA, 11-2) took on Andrey “Iron” Lezhnev (Ukraine, 18-7).
Andrey Lezhnev fought in M-1 Challenge since 2015, he had 15 fights in just three years and proved that he fully deserves his nickname. Andrey lost to Timur Nagibin by decision, then he won in 9 of his 10 fights. He fought and won against the tough opponents like Mikhail Kuznetsov, Lee Morrison, Kurbanali Abdusalamov, Ilfat Amirov and Asikerbai Jinensibieke. Natural toughness and great work ethic helped Andrey to make a huge progress every time he fought in M-1, so eventually he deserved the #1 contender status and got the chance to fight for the featherweight title.
Nate Landwehr has been one of the most entertaining fighters in Russian MMA for the last few years. Crazy American who knows how to make top-level show both inside and outside the “rage”. All of his fights are the wars without any compromises, when the caution is thrown out the window and the only one fighter survives in the end of the battle.
Nate got MMA fans’ attention immediately when he debuted in M-1. His first three fights in promotion were highly entertaining, one of them was declared the best fight of 2018 in M-1. Landwehr won against Mikhail Korobkov and Viktor Kolesnik, after that he fought against the featherweight champion Khamzat Dalgiev in Dalgiev’s homeland Ingushetia and stopped him in the second round. The fight against Lezhnev was Nate’s first title defense, so he was 100% ready to give the fans in Atyrau “The Train Show” that they came for.
It was a true title fight, both fighters are tough and entertaining, plus Nate’s fighting and trash talking style made this fight so highly anticipated. You can be sure that when “The Train” and “Iron” will be in the “rage”, it’s going to be a battle for ages. These guys never disappoint the fans.

Get your ass up! Nate, Clarksville loves man. So much respect for you. I remember seeing you waking up to come out and run at 6AM on a Saturday morning when we were still up drinking. You deserve everything you get man. Fucking love your drive.

I love Landwehr but let's be honest about the talent. He's never going to be champ lol. His chin is solid, but a far cry from "as good as it gets". His right hand NEVER comes back to his face. It's why he's clipped by a left hook badly in every fight he's ever been in. He bites on feints every time, drops his hands or reaches out. His cardio is what makes him do well. He just keeps riding out the damage until dudes gas lol. All though his latest performance was great. He's unlimited entertainment. Hilarious mic skills. Funny as f**k. But he'll never move up high in the rankings.

@@redneckrambo9626 let's just let time tell the story , I say If he can get a little more technical and strategic with gameplanning while still remaining an exciting fighting style, and here's the kicker, he must not get knocked out and avoid them wars somewhat unscaved . if he can do this I think he can be a champ one day , he's got heart , a chin , and us about as an exciting fighter in the ufc that there is. plus he's a character who knows how to use the mic , he's got all the tools, gifts , and pizazz a superstar needs ,so I say I beg to differ ,hell be champ in 2 to 3 years

14:12 You can see Andre realize in real time that Nate drops his right hand to attempt to catch the low kick, and bites HARD on feints, so he feints a low kick and IMMEDIATELY follows it up with a left hook.

I thought the same thing training around him years ago. I was never that close, a few training sessions or so of getting wrecked at ssf in clarksville. He was so damn natural at it all, but he was so careless and arrogant. Bottom line, the man made it to UFC. Just speaks for the brash style being legitimate. Technique and humble approach will likely be his eventual downfall, but it'll still take one hell of a tactician to do that.
