  • @bobdole4916

    @bobdole4916

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's bad coaching and/or dumb players. There's always a priority, so that when two players call for a ball, the guy higher on the priority is the one who gets it. For the infield, it's usually shortstop, second, third, first, catcher, pitcher. For the outfield, center is always on top. And when it's between an infielder running out and an outfielder running in, it's the outfielder who gets the priority because their momentum gives them a better chance at throwing the ball in time to where it's needed. Different teams might change things up a bit, depending on the quality of player at each position, and there's probably situational changes as well, but it's the coaches' job to think all that stuff through and teach it to the players, and the players job to remember it all. Good fielding teams have it all planned out, bad fielding teams end up on videos like this.

    My favorite "Celebration so creative it was worth the penalty" moment was a clip I saw a long time ago of a football player celebrating a touchdown by dropping the ball in the end zone, picking up the nearest corner pylon, and pretending he was playing "putt-putt mini golf" with the football.

    I noticed that too! It’s because the catcher saved the umpire from being hit by the ball bouncing off the wall behind home-plate. The umpire never saw it and was probably like “Why is this guy patting me?”

    The video of Blue Jays shortstop Manny Lee swinging at two pitches well out of the strike zone occurred because Toronto was trying to get the game to 5 innings and beat out a possible rain delay or cancellation. They were up by multiple runs at the time. They did get the win as it turned out.
