Crawler Canyon Quick(re)view: Rhino V80A outrunner ESC

My definition of "quick" might not fall in line with others. But I've got you know, things to say. I call these a "quickview" because it covers unboxing and initial testing. It does not speak to durability, longevity, etc.
This is the "quick" review of the Rhino V80A ESC for outrunner.

Thanks for the overview, I flew drones in the past and programmed these little ESC's - we're just scratching the surface with what flight ESC units can do, they are incredibly powerful and can handle a LOT of power due to the demands of flight. The drone community has put out custom firmware that controls a myriad of settings and is VERY granular (with a poper GUI), I hope someone in our community has the ability to do the same (there is a firmware out there, but it takes some tech knowlege and soldering skills to get this going) these little units are incredible. Don't get me started on those motors!

Sir, thank you for this review. I’m very interested in this type of setup. I have the Hobbywing PRO but would like to try an outrunner next. Still in the research phase though. So thanks again for a great review. I like the product / bench time and the performance time on the rocks. I’m stilling learning about this type of setup but starting to really like it. Absolutely love the torque with stupid low speed control.

Nice to see another ESC option for the outrunner motors. I currently do not have an outrunner motor in my fleet, but may have to give this one a try. Nice review as always!

I love that rig. He's so good, and now it's beyond reason how good your class 1 is. I'm about to press buy on that ESC now. I have a HH setup with their Crawlmaster mini and the 2250 micro outrunner and it's great. I see that 3BRC are listing a "trail proof" black jacket outrunner. Water, rocks, and mud resistant with a 1 year warranty "no matter what you do to it". But it's sensored and wants a Castle ESC in sensored mode to run. OR you can get the YellowJacket outrunner that is more comp spec and sensor-less, but says good enough for the trails and 2 speed rigs...AND " Lifetime warranty: We warranty our Yellowjackets for life with the orignial purchaser. This includes bearings, repair, water damage, or replacement regardless of how it happened. The motor must be non-functioning." Very intrigued.

I have the SANWA MT-4S Transmitter and it would not calibrate properly. Another words it would not pick up the neutural. I changed the throttle type. Nothing. So I tried the FLYSKY FS-G7P transmitter and it worked on the first try. Just thought I would throw it out there. But works great once you get it work. I purchased 2 more. Now its a waiting game. Thanks for the video.

Do these have bidirectional dshot support for reading the RPM? I know AM32 has it normally, but it doesn't seem to work with my controller...

Do you think it's possible to cut a little cable motors? If putting esc close to the outrunner motor I have a huge cable connection, and readed somewhere that could create cogging problems.

hey brotha awesome vid, thank you! Do you know if the rhino programmer would work for other am32 escs like the HH crawlmaster v2?
