It's been close to 5 years since I last upscaled them. AI upscaling tech has progressed significantly since then. This time the files I uploaded on Google Drive are totally lossless, encoded on a very slow preset through Handbrake on x265 10 bit 60fps with 20CRF. Took me hours upon hours but it was worth it, small file size, easy web viewing, and perfect optimization.
Workflow: -
I used PAL FMVs and NTSC Audio, combined them to get the highest quality output. PSS Demux for audio extraction, ffmpeg to extract all frames then processed through gigapixel first (Video AI was terrible at upscaling in comparison) the only downside of using gigapixel was temporal inconsistency which you can probably notice but the detail retrieval capabilities were far superior to that of Video AI. So it was worth the compromise in my opinion. After upscaling the frames, I fed them into Video AI for interpolation using the Apollo model, disabled dupe frame checking and interpolated 2x and had it export to 16 bit pngs instead of to a video, again, trying to keep it as high quality and lossless as possible. Then I used ffmpeg to create a ffv1 video out of the frames and then fed the pcm.wav file to create the almost final output. I then fed that into Handbrake with the very slow preset and all that as I described above to a small but perfect output which are then uploaded to the GDrive. The KZread video you see here is just a scaled and stretched all around with a lower bitrate with Davinci Resolve and shitty KZread compression further ruining the quality. It's a showcase type thingy for quick viewing imo. Still decent, but not as good as the OG GDrive files. E.g in the NTSC Complete vid I kept the aspect ratio and black bars, unlike here in the YT upload where I removed those and stretched it in place. If you're still reading, I love you. Feel free to do whatever with the files as you please, but do tag me in whatever project you use it for, not because I want or need credit, but because I wanna see what the community does with it. Enjoy, hope my 80 hour long effort was worth it. To an outsider or an uninformed person all this may seem as easy as putting in a file and getting a perfect output out, but it's genuinely a lot more complex than that and there's still a great deal of thought and care that goes into this stuff.

    Seriously, it's sensational, you can see the cutscenes in high quality as cleanly as possible. You've put a lot of effort into making the cutscenes as polished as possible, they're really divine, even with the difficulties and obviously having a few details here and there, it's exceptional. Thank you for all your effort, I'm happy to know that the Crash Twinsanity community is always striving to surprise us and show its best.

    Thank you! Gracias. I'll look into it sometime later because it has way too many cutscenes. I'll merge them all into one video as I did here instead of splitting up like I used to back then.

    I found it very interesting that you managed to do this. I am making a fan remake of this game with all the deleted content. Can I use these cutscenes in my game? I will give you credit for it. I couldn't upscale the videos :(

    In fact, what software did you use to raise the framerate like that? I have such plug in in Vegas Pro, but it's nowhere near as faultless as your method

    The latest Topaz VEAI v5. The updated Apollo model is really good at it. Better than any other method I've tested, and I've tested plenty.

    @@zekion. GWKTM is a controversial figure within the Crash Bandicoot community. He despises anyone that enjoys playing the modern Crash games (NST, NF, C4 etc) and has even sent death threats with imagery to the devs and average enjoyers. I won't get into much more detail, but looking up his persona on youtube has more than enough videos describing who he actually is.

    It’s designed for live action. Block shade and lineart screw with it a lot so it makes sense that this would turn out better.

    @@-the_lumberjack- Though in live action movies raising framerate artificially didn't raise the framerate of every object on screen, making experience look as awkward as stop-motion-esque movement in CGi animation

    You could convert these to .pss and replace the fmvs in the ps2 ROM, so theoretically possible but I haven't tried it yet.
