Crane rope "button" termination | Reeving a crane block

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I show how the end termination is made on the rope for the Tadano 180G-5. This rope uses a "button", which is a swaged fitting on the end of the wire rope. This type of termination yields 100% of the wire rope capacity.
I also show how the three sheave block is reeved with four parts of line.

    Am I seeing correct? That little steel button is a terminating point of the cable? I mean I understand how it's crimped on under tremendous tons of weight squeezing it onto the cable.. but well this might be a stupid question? What on Earth keeps that button from slipping use after use? Cuz as I watch the video a second time I did not see any safety backup should that fail.o.o

    Friction keeps it on there. It must be very well engineered. It is one of the few terminations that yield a 100% of rope capacity rating. The capacity of a traditional wedge socket is only 80% of rope capacity. Many thanks for watching! 🙂

    Ok. Curiosity killed the cat. At what point are ALL sheaves used on boom AND hook? 2nd, how much cable is on the drum with ALL sheaves being used? 3rd, what is the lifting capacity?

  • @ToTheTopCrane

    @ToTheTopCrane

    4 жыл бұрын

    All the sheaves would be used for a very heavy pick. I'm not sure how much rope would be left on the drum. That would be dependent upon boom angle, length, etc.. The capacity would be 234,500 lbs. In order to reach the full 400,000 lb capacity of the crane, I would have to add extra sheaves that attach to lugs on the bottom of the boom. We would also need a bigger block than what we currently own. Great questions and many thanks for watching! 🙂

    From the guy who asked for the ‘Shackles’ video some time back (which was hugely successful 😁): Great video Jimmy! Anytime you’re reviewing your equipment, you’ll get a ‘watch’ and ‘like’ outta me! Would you consider this attachment superior to the Spelter socket? 🤜🤛

  • @ToTheTopCrane

    @ToTheTopCrane

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! I wouldn't consider either to more superior. They both yield a capacity of 100% of the wire rope capacity. Which is better than a traditional wedge socket or thimble and clamps. Many thanks for watching! 🙂

    The highest number of parts of line that I can currently use is 14. We don't have the extra sheaves and bigger block to go any higher than 14 parts. I haven't had to pull a reeving rope on this crane. But, I have been part of that process on some others. Many thanks for watching! 🙂
