Crakow in three days. The old Town

In several videos, we will talk about the main sights of Crakow that you can see in three days. After all, it is one of the oldest cities in Poland, with a thousand-year history, rich cultural and architectural heritage. We will start our journey from Jan Matejka Square, the landmark of which is the Church of St. Florian. In the center of the square there is a monument commemorating the Battle of Grunwald. The Barbican is very close by - the pearl of Crakow's defense structures. It was built at the end of the 15th century to protect the city from enemy attacks. At that time, the Barbican was an impregnable fortress that had never been stormed. Next, we will take a walk through Planta Park, which grew on the site of the destroyed fortress wall. The historical center of Crakow is the Old Town. Once upon a time, the Royal Road passed through it, along which the Polish monarchs headed to the place of their coronation - Wawel Castle. Florian's Gate serves as the main entrance to the Old Town, as before. This building, almost 35 meters high, dates back to the end of the 13th century. Behind the gate begins the ancient Florianska street, which today houses museums, shops, hotels, cafes and restaurants. We will visit the Juliusz Slovacky Drama Theater very close by. Thanks to the rich decoration with columns and sculptures, the theater looks like a small palace. Finally, we get to Market Square, which is the largest medieval square in Europe. It was formed in the middle of the 13th century and has remained unchanged since then. The main historical sights of the square are the Cloth Rows, the Church of St. Wojciech, the Town Hall and St. Mary's Church. We will definitely take a leisurely walk near each of these buildings, remember the interesting stories and legends associated with them. A favorite meeting place of Crakow residents and tourists is the monument to the famous Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz, as well as the original sculpture "Bound Eros" in the form of a man's head.
