I just bought this same mower for $10 at my local Ace Hardware as a customer return. They returned it after using it for about 3 months or so saying the drive system broke. Ace got the credit refund from Craftsman saying they should just destroy the mower. I brought it home, looked everything over, and found the front drive pulley was packed with long dried grass. Knocked it clean and mowed non stop for almost an hour and a half. Best $10 I ever spent!

I just bought a Craftman with Honda engine with Front Wheel Drive. It is the BEST lawn mover I ever owned! Initially I bought a Honda Mover, I returned it since it was difficult to operate. Craftman really knows what a home owner want. Best design, simple and so easy to operate, love it!

Shell Cracker well Briggs and strattons are disposable. Plastic internal components. They'll last about 3 years. For a honda, you'll pay about $50 more, and get about 15 more years than you would a Briggs. Back in the day, Briggs used to make good stuff. Nowadays, they make these engines to be thrown away.

My last mower before the purchase of the m230 was Briggs and Stratton powered. Rarely changed the engine oil and used it on a steep hillside as well as level yard. Lasted over twenty years and was still running well when the deck collapsed from rust.

never use to hose rinsing thingy, it will introduce rust under the mower, just make sure to cut dry grass and it won't get dirty.

Such a great video! I just bought this exact model and was having a tough time figuring out how to put together the handle. The instructions didn't help me at all but your video really did! I'm also glad you showed how to attach a hose to clean underneath. My old lawn mower had one of those too but I was always a little leery to try it out. But now I see how much easier it would be to use the hose instead of getting down on the grown to scrape built up grass off.

When you use the deck wash lower the mower to the ground and then turn it on. Trust me makes a world of difference.

Got this at Ace on sale over the weekend and I mowed my 3/4 acre lawn with plants and other lawn obstacles in under an hour this thing has power and easy to use. My old one would bog out when I'd get to the thick weeded areas but this thing just chomps it like nothing.

I purchased a self propelled years ago and the only issue I had with it was that it seemed heavier to maneuver and turn. Great review....thanks for the video.

I was just wondering if you're going to update this video with a tune-up class on this particular engine because you don't change the oil in it for one thing plus I've just lost touch with mechanicing

Just looking at maybe buying one of these since my TroyBilt has finally bit the dust.

How did you fare with the tension adjustment you mentioned for FWD? Just got this mower, and it feels like there isn't enough tension in that hand pedal. The adjustment helps temporarily, but mine always seem to slip back into the slowest tension after a few minutes.

i just bought this and they left out the bag with the manual, oil and deflector!!! thanx for this video.....watched it and went back to store and got my missing stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for this video! Why on earth they made it so you have to take the knobs off to pull the handle out and have to put the screws back in so that they blades will turn is beyond me. I'm a widow doing it on my own and it completely overwhelmed me bc the screws didn't line up right and took forever to get them back in. I was extremely frustrated that the pull start wouldn't work until I did that part. The instructions were hard for me to comprehend, so I had to call Briggs and Stratton and they told me what to do. Great video though!

I'm glad you like the self propelled, I didn't care for the one I had because you couldn't mow backwards, but I loved my little mulching mower. Of course now it is irrelevant because I have someone mow my lawn since my arthritis in my foot has gotten worse.

I bought this one 3 months ago. Used 8 times. Never set more then 2 weeks at a time. Now it won't start. Checked the auto choke, fuel lines, etc. I'm taking it to a craftsman dealer today. I never had trouble from manual choke mowers.

I just bought craftsman M260 gas lawn mower. I wonder what's the difference between the M230 and M260. It has the same 163cc engine. I only see a little bit difference on the middle handle bar and the adjusting bolts to make it lower or higher for the person to grab the handle bar but other than that I cannot tell the difference. Oh and also I noticed the sizes of the tires are different in the front and back for the m230 and on our m260 both front tires and back tires are the same size. Other than that I cannot tell the difference. 🤔🤔

AJ it's fake. It's just a marketing sham. Briggs makes their engines to be thrown away. They want there engines to last maybe 3 years, then you get a new one. Change your oil every year. Don't believe that gimmic.

Do NOT put oil in your gas or you will ruin it.

It does take oil, specifically it takes SAE10-30 4 cycle(4 stroke), and should have SJ on the back label. You can find it at Lowes/Walmart/Home Depot, often marketed as lawnmower oil. However Like Tami said, do not add it directly to the tank, add it to the oil reservoir on the side. The top valve is for straight gasoline, no additives, iirc the manual recommends 86 pump octane

I just bought this mower without the self propel from Sears. I'm still growling. It didn't come with a hose adapter. I called the salesman and his reponse was " don't know what to tell you." On first mow, it wasn't cutting well. It actually seemes as if it had a dull blade. On inspection, the grass blades were the classic sawed tops if a dull blade. Now I have to pull and sharpen the blade on my brand new mower before I tackle the small field behind my house. I'm pretty mad

Mine started smoking and spitting oil after a few uses, but lowes exchanged it. No issues so far with the exchange.

I have same engine on my Klippo, without self propelled

Briggs and straton motor. It will last a good while!
