Craftsman drive belt replacement

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this one, we jump on a broken drive belt on a Craftsman riding mower. This is the first one I've done and hopefully it's the last. Take a minute and enjoy my misery.

Thank you for this video. I'm in the throws of figuring out getting over the back pulley. Going to wait for daylight tomorrow to try the suggestions here. My favorite thing about this model is the owner's manual tells you "several components and special tools needed, see a Sear's or qualified dealer to replace the drive belt". Its like, how about a diagram already LOL!

I just replaced the drive belt on my craftsman T150. It is a lot different than the T110. Only one pulley in the rear over the transaxle with a plastic fan mounted above it . Two small clutch pulleys in the center and a pulley system connected to the crank. It’s not an easy task but doable. Easiest way I have seen on KZread is too remove the deck. And turn the mower on its right side making sure the gas line to the carb is pinched of. I drained my oil (it was time to change it anyway). And put a plastic bag over the gas tank opening and tightened the cap over it so gas wouldn’t leak out the vent.

This was an awesome video that helped me tremendously. I had to change the rear pulley that was worn out. There was no way I could work on my model without turning the mower on its side. Being a disable vet with two knee replacements, there was no way I could get down thay low on the ground! Thank you for your efforts and time to help others figure this stuff out.

This was definitely a helpful videos for the most difficult time I’ve had doing something I remember being so easy in the past. My God don't listen to this guy you'll be there all day. First of all do not pull any pulleys! After the deck has been removed cut the belt remove the belt guard from the front pulley, slip the belt over the pulley on the bottom the large one as it sits there loosely feed the belt to the back pulley remove battery and plastic Trey slip belt up and over large pulley to the axle if needed take a large screwdriver to squeeze the belt in between the belt guard without damaging the belt. It's very easily done. Go back to the front pulley lift belt over small pulley if having trouble jump the belt on the pulley by turning the engine. Reinstall belt gard. Reassemble battery back into tray. Start your lawn tractor then turn it back off after 2 seconds make sure bill is all aligned and everything looks good. Reinstall deck and you're on your way have a nice day. Never turn tractor over on its side! No oil needs to be removed no gas needs to be removed! Use a floor jack and jack stands for safety. The job shouldn't take you longer than a half hour or hour at the most

I agree. Don't listen to me. I put it on it's side for viewing purposes. I removed the oil because it needed to be changed. I drained the gas because I wasn't sure how old it was. I have a 6 yr old T1600. This looks similar to mine. While I was changing the blade belt, I noticed a big crack in the drive belt. I've heard these are really hard to change. But when I removed the battery and looked at the pulleys underneath, it, I noticed that theres a small pulley in front of the big pulley that you pulled off in this video. I found it easier to remove that in order to get the belt out of the way to get to the drive belt. I figured I might as well replace all the belts while I have them apart. I'm hoping I can avoid taking the front pulley off. I might have enough slack to do it. Great video. Keep up the good work.

I see that that is the Craftsman T110 model, we recent had the opportunity to get either the Troy Bilt Pony 36 or the Craftsman T100 and we decided to get the Craftsman T100 and just had it delivered yesterday actually. It ran good aside from the cutter housing vibrating a little but if we should ever run into any trouble with the drive belt would it be as hard to replace as this T110's would be or do you know if there are any differences?

  • @AverageJoes4u

I'm not familiar with the T100 model specifically but my guess is, it would be the same. As we discussed in one of my other videos, most mowers are now being manufactured by the same company, MTD. I also have a Sabre, made by John Deere that appears to be identical to the T110. The one thing I'm certain of is it's an absolutely horrible design and a nightmare to work on. I'm not an engineer but I have to believe there is a better way to do it. Now that I'm finished whining, thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to watch. I really appreciate it!

Yes something so simple shouldn't require research. Of course I'm doing mine in the dark. I really didn't see how the tension spring attached to the bracket so I'm there on reassembly. A also only released the back two pins on the deck and only released the brackets on the pulleys and my belt made entry there. I do agree when first doing there seems to be time wasted on incorrect position in steps all and all fairly easy in the butt kind of way. Like all mechanics for me lately Good video except I still don't know where the spring attached to the tensioner. Is it a hole or the belt retainer lever
