Crafting A Woodland Camp Chair.

Ойын-сауық

In this quick video we take a look how to make a simple camp chair. It is a great project if you have a couple of hours spare and want to try something practical and simple. I would like to thank Rick T for the original video. Thanks for watching...…

With a simple foot rest and some padding/insulation that looks very comfortable and versatile year round. In a wool blanket next to a fire it would be very comfortable.

Hi Dave, I hope you have been keeping well mate. Another damp weekend, I was going to ask if you were out on the Bike? Yeah it is a nice wood where I go to. The only trouble is they are cutting parts down now. I wanted to see where my old camp was, but there isn't a single tree left. I was gutted. They even took their old bricks back that I used for the fire pit. I hope they steer clear of this area lol. I hope you have a great weekend Dave whatever you have planned :) Take care mate, all the best, Mark :)

@@MrRealdealdd Hi Dave, I'm glad you are feeling better now mate :) I was told that man flu is that bad that women can die from it LOL. Yeah the wood is about 3 miles away. So it has been a nice location for videos. I have been offered the use of a wood by the guy I have been doing the voluntary work for. He bought it for woodland burials and cremations but hasn't had the time to do anything with it. When I was there the other day he said he will take me to see it. So if it is OK, I may use there as well. Another option wouldn't be a bad idea. I would hate to turn up to where I go and find it to be a muddy field lol.

Nice demo Mark. One thing I like with your channel Mark, is that you’ve never use foul language, there’s no lewdity or innuendo, just bushcraft and camping related topics. It’s so disappointing when you’re enjoying a video on a Bushcraft channel, and the language lewdity and innuendo, even drunkenness, makes the cut. It ruins it for me. I like the way you present as well. Great stuff mark. Good to see you doing well.

Fantastic job Mark and wouldn't of expected anything different from such a talented Woodsman. Aye 3 foot works well, I have since made a couple of smaller ones that are a bit neater. I have two in the garden with one having old bike inner tubes stretched across the seating and back rest 🙂🙂. You displayed some great saw and knife skills as always and looked a lovely day. I'm planning on doing some minimal kit survival/ bushcraft stuff this weekend in inclement weather. Practicing some true bushcraft skills "the more you know, the less you carry" n all that 😉. I reckon it's true though and it's what I like to do 🙂. I've been in the climbing wall all week with groups and a bit of mountain biking so looking forward to some bushcrafting 😉🔥🌲🌲. They have some nice climbing walls, with 50ft chimney climb. I haven't been for years, but in the end I preferred the walls for keeping fit and pushing yourself. I would always get a leg wobble on an E2 climb outdoors, but indoors on a top rope you would jump to the next hold lol. I will look forward to your minimal kit video mate if you record it. I've just been given the nod to go back to work. So going to enjoy my last few weeks before the chaos starts again ;) Yeah, save the paramo for a time when it won't get ragged. I was back in the kayak in Wales last week. Was mint to be back on the river and I felt good. Not too rusty 😉. I'll probably be out before first light tomorrow n I might do a bit of filming 👍. Good morning Wol, many thanks for watching mate :) It is always a pleasure to hear from you :) I know what you mean about people leaving synthetic cordage around in the woods. I am forever cutting loops of poly rope and paracord from the trees in a wood behind me. The kids use it to make shelters and rope swings etc, but leave it once the shelter has collapsed and they move on. I thought about using dowels again, but to save time I just notched the wood and lashed it. I always prefer to use natural cordage for anything that will be staying out in the woods. Apart from it eventually breaking down, I like how jute grips and easily knots. Thanks again Wol… have a great week, all the best, Mark :)

Good morning Carl..... I hope you are having a nice weekend mate :) Many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Yeah you should give it a try mate. They only take an hour of or so to knock up. Next time I would use slightly thicker poles, but apart from that it turned out OK. Thanks again Carl... speak soon mate, all the best, Mark :)

Hi Zed, many thanks for watching and for the kind words, it is very much appreciated brother. I think these chairs can look quite complicated until you see how they are constructed :) They only take an hour or two to put together and worth the end result. Take care Zed, I hope you are getting too blown about by the weather. All the very best, Mark :)

Hi Pete, many thanks for watching :) It was a toss up between willow or hazel. In the end I had to go with hazel and a few pieces of sycamore. I will make a willow one at work, give me something to do instead of working lol. Have a great weekend Pete, all the best, Mark :)

This chair, or a variation thereof, seems to be a staple with bush crafters. I’ve had to run a support from the points of the A frames to stiffen it up a bit in the past. Nice video.

Hi Baseball Morgan, many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :) I was worried that the poles weren't going to be strong enough to stop the flex in the chair, but it seemed OK. I would of done the same by adding a support if it needed stiffening up. Next time I will look for stouter poles. But it was nice project to do and I can keep my backside dry now lol. Have a great weekend, my friend, all the best, Mark :)

Nice one Mark, I need to make a chair for the camp. I always just sit on the ground on a mat. Keeps it simple but a little luxury would be nice 😂 hope you're well mate, enjoy your weekend. Take care 👍

Hi Andy :) I know what you mean mate, I have sat on the floor or tree stumps for years. It is more out of habit from guiding along rivers or at the coast. Hopefully now I will have a dry backside when I'm in the woods lol. It is a nice project to do and it only takes an hour or so. Yeah you should try one out. I'm sure you will enjoy making it, and enjoy using it :) Thanks for taking the time Andy, it is always great to hear from you. Have a great weekend mate, all the best, Mark :)
