Craft With Me - Vintage Photo Tags
Hi Guys,
I have been wanting to play with this die set for quite a while and decided today is the day. I brought out all my vintage photos to play with and I really like the way these turned out. I hope you also enjoy this project. The supplies I used for this will be listed below.
Thanks for watching!!

It is reassuring that I am not the only one whose charms magically change direction when I add them with a bulb pin. Sneaky little things!

Ha! So that proves I'm NOT crazy! Lol. Thanks for watching Amber :)
Tim has a great overview from two years ago on his channel of all the texture paste and mediums. The crackle paste will crackle, but you have to let it air dry and not use the heat tool. He gives some great demos on all the products. This particular video of his is one of my favorite go-tos for how to use these products. There are a couple fun techniques. I’d love to see you try (hint, hint). ❤📚

Thanks for the tip Laurie. I already had plans to look it up on his channel to see what I did wrong. Thanks for watching Laurie
Just spent a wonderful few hours catching up on this weeks videos. All I can say is "Who needs Television"? Your the best viewing since TV was invented. And that giggle makes my day every time xxx

Lorraine! You are absolutely the sweetest! I appreciate you so much!
Hi Maggie! When you use Crackle Paste, you need a thick coat and the “Buttered Toast” technique is definitely spreading it too thin… in addition, it must be left to air dry… the heat gun is in effect melting it… I usually use Crackle Paint, which, again, should be applied with a brush and left to air dry…love the die set…❤

Thanks Joanie. I'll give it a try. Thanks for watching
Possibly it's not crackling because you are using your heat tool. I have found crackle paste needs to dry naturally.

Hi Maggie. Another great video. I love how you say, “What is happening?” and then laugh. Your sense of fun is contagious and it’s great to see that even the “professionals” have a hard time once in a while. Thank you for your great content and the joy you share. 💜

I could not figure out for the life of me what in reality was happening and why I couldn't get the darn thing to hang the right way. LOL! I am far from a "professional" but I appreciate it. Thanks for watching Barbara
Yes they do want you to keep buying more. LOL. You have the best little laugh/giggle. Times like this happen. Love these.

Tip…If you dry the crackle paste it doesn’t crackle. Tim said it’s best to let it dry naturally.😊😊😊 love all your makes❤️

I have heard Tim say you need to let the crackle paste dry naturally as well, which I have done. It still doesn’t crackle! I have experimented with a lot of product and less product. No crackle! Looking for tips!
Hi Maggie love todays project i think with crackle paste you need to put a thicker layer on and let it air dry Take care Pam xx

Maggie, you mentioned a problem with your crackle paste and as I watched you put what I thought was it on the corner of your frames I know what is wrong you are stroking it like you're buttering toast you have to take a good amount so you just swipe it either up or down once only and you really need a decent amount, you shouldn't be able to see through it. I hope this helps.

Also rather than brushing it on like you're painting, try dabbing it on with a stiffer brush, like you're pouncing with a stencil brush. It'll give the surface the look of old oil paintings. This also goes with anything like ModPodge or decoupage. It breaks up the shine and brush strokes.

I should have scrolled down to read this post, but this is what is happening. “Buttering toast”. Perfect description love it!!😂❤❤❤. The heat isn’t a good idea. Let it air dry.

You need to use a bit more paste and let it dry naturally, crackle paste will not crack if you use a heat tool. Either way, your project turned out really great ❤️

They are so cute 🥰 You might want to put a thicker coat of paste on to be able to see it cracking and not mess with it too much either... I haven't tried it myself, i might get it for my upcoming birthday hehe 😁

Hi Maggie! Loved this! When don’t I love it? 😂🤣😂🤣. I have a whole shoebox filled with pictures like that. I guess I better get in the cedar chest and dig them out. I ended up with all my grandparents and parents pictures from their life (1940’s and up) when they passed so I have a ton.

That is so cool! I wish I had old pictures of my family. I'll have to ask my mom when I go to visit. Thanks for watching Karen
I use to do my own crackle before they made a product. One thing I found is when you apply it only swipe it on once. Repeating the application in the same spot over and over prevents the crackle from crackling. Hope this helps.

What a great project! I love the little girl with the game piece dangle, the lady at the end with the yarn and of course the crazy best friends. Super fun, I hope you work out the crackle paste. I haven't bought that yet, I remember making my own back in the day. I'm obsessed with the cello tape but haven't put my order in yet (I'll buy TWO)!

It is said before in the comments, but a heating tool will diminish the crackling effect, you need to air dry it.
