Craft Room MAKEOVER & Organization // building a custom hybrid desk & chatty reorganization
We have finally reached the reorganization stage of this project! This is part TWO in my craft room redesign. I took over the dining "room" (if you can call it that) for my office and craft room so it was important to create a desk that had multiple uses and was beautifully organized! I will be sharing how we built a custom desk for all of our needs. Also, join me for a crafty & chaotic organization of my craft space! Thank you so much for watching!

Hi! Why not lay the large cubed organizer down across the back of the table so that you can access all of the cubes. Also, lay the other shelf on top of it and there will be nothing leaning over the end. It's also safer so that noting will fall and hurt you when your reaching for more supplies. You won't need to cut the smaller organizer either. Kudos to hubby, mom, and dad for all their support. You're doing great! Oh yeah, what a clever dining solution! 😃👍

Thank you so much for your input! That’s a good idea, but I actually like having some cubes that are a little out of reach. It gives me a place to put my less reached for items, and this is working well functionally. Also, it’s pretty secure up there. But I am always open to change things as my needs change so I will keep this idea in mind!

My brain has all over the place moments. Right now all it can focus on is letting you know that drawers on the work surface mean you have to keep the areas in front of them clear.

Love it! Just a thought though.... have you thought about switching the Kallax with the smaller unit? What I mean is move the Kallax to the right of the corner and lay it down long ways over the piece that is hanging over. Then slide that to the left a bit to make it flush. Then move the smaller unit to the unused space to the left of the corner. Hope that makes sense....
@facemadelife
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! That’s a really good idea and would look really nice, but I actually like having those cubes up high for the stuff I don’t get into as often. I also feel like functionally this works better for me. However if my stash changes in the future I may have to adjust how things are situated.
@karenmitchell6814
Жыл бұрын
Why not just slide the extra large counter a few inches to the right so the smaller unit is fully on top of it? If the back of the Kallax unit is not fully on top of the table, but still against the wall, it’s not a big deal.
@facemadelife
Жыл бұрын
@@karenmitchell6814 I’ve thought about that but at this point it kind of feels easier to adjust the desktop shelf thing. It may be something to consider trying though. Thanks for the input!

hi, i love your video, but i would like to know what that thing with the 2 drawers(that you want to make smoller) on your desk is called, i know it is from ikea. thank you
@facemadelife
Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! It’s part of the Alex system, but I don’t believe they sell this exact one anymore.
Did you buy all the drawer pieces separately?? What will you be putting in drawers? How does everyone organize dies and stamps? Because magnetic sheets are 1.00 each, I am thinking about using a file cabinet, tabbed with ziplock bags if I find many kits in one category. Has anyone found that washi tape falls right off and is very temporary? I can not figure out why they bother making decorated washi when it won’t stay on a page anyway.
@facemadelife
Жыл бұрын
Hi so I can answer some of your questions! All of the drawer United were purchased separately from ikea. You can see what I organized in the drawers in my craft room tour video (there’s a lot of different things in there)! I don’t use dies so I don’t have any suggestions on organizing those, but I keep my stamps in a clear acrylic bin. I personally have never had any issues with Washi sticking. I think they key is getting quality Washi. Hope that helped!
Looks amazing! 💕🍑
