I made this armor over two years ago, so it maybe not be the best, but it's a super basic and cheap way to make armor so I hope it helps!

Wow, so much work. That's amazing!
I'm just starting to take an interest in CosPlay and I've been watching a lot of tutorials lately and I just wanted to tell you how impressive I find the look you've achieved with much simpler and more cost effective techniques than I've seen elsewhere.
I've been doing this for years and that's the best work I've ever seen with craft foam and hot glue, I'd even go as far to say it's better than most worbla work I've seen. Not to mention you're incredibly beautiful.

Thank you so much!!
THIS. This is the kind of tutorial i live for! The step by step procedures, the zoomed in shots, how you explained EVERYTHING. This is a fantastic tutorial thank you SO SO MUCH for uploading this. Im adding this to my cosplay playlist. I really wish more people would do tutorials like this. So elaborate. I hope to see more cosplays done by you 💙

Thank you so much!! I put a lot of effort into making this so I'm glad it paid off! Personally I have trouble following a lot of tutorials because I have a trouble understanding very complex or difficult things unless I clearly see them done step-by-step. I really wanted this to be able to be followed & understood by everyone!
Wow! This tutorial is amazing! I'm planning on cosplaying as Aranea Highwind for AX2017 in summer and I've been so overwhelmed by the countless armor tutorials using worbla and not to mention that I've never worked with armor before. I'm on a low-budget right now, and seeing how you made this with craft foam made me so excited to finally start working! Thank you so much! Lightning is my all-time favorite female character and I'm planning on cosplaying as her eventually!
I've watched over 30 tutorials trying to find a good one for armor making. This one isn't good. It's god like! This covers literally everything I needed. Thank you so much!!
I'm considering making the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, and this is really giving me some great ideas on how to comfortably and affordably pull it off!
All your lightning tutorials have been tremendously inspiring for me, and I hope this summer to attempt her 13-2 armor! (The one with the ridiculous feather back-skirt, of course, which I'm sure I'll have a grand time brainstorming how to do) Thank you so much for making these videos! They're amazing help! Especially seeing how nice craft foam armor can turn out, as worbla is super expensive!
Man this armor is gorgeous and affordable. Thanks for a nice tutorial
"May not be best quality" looks like Lightning walked right out of the games . Sounds legit. You can make a good business out of this by selling these.
Thank you for making this! You've not only helped me with the question I had, but you've also inspired me to continue my current cosplay! Thank you!!!
I don't cosplay but I think the art of cosplaying is awesome and I think you are right up there with the best.
excellent idea using fabric for the under armor. makes it accurate yet comfortable. thanks for the tutorial! you're amazing and talented!
Oh my god i just watched all your videos. you're so talented and gorgeous even when you're not cosplaying without make up. god bless you! keep making awesome videos!
Your Lightning videos have inspired me to turn this prop sword I bought from Spirit Halloween and turn it into Lightning's gunblade! The sword I got is just the right length and shape, and all I believe I'll need is craft foam. Keep up the awesome videos!

Goodluck! You got this!!
I just found your videos and got sucked into watching over an hour of your tutorials. they are amazing!! Thank you for putting these all together. They are really inspiring and informative.
I haven't played any FF game but I can't stop watching your Lighting videos! This one is making me want to continue working on a project I dropped two years ago~ or even try this one out

That means so much to me! I know how hard finding motivation can be, so if I can be that motivation for you, I'm truly honored!!
OMG! This is the best video I've found EVER for making armor! Everywhere else I go, they're like "this stuff's cheap" ($100 later for a few sheets of eva), or they're like "you just need these tools" as if everyone has one or can afford one. Your video is seriously very doable, AND very affordable! The most affordable and doable armor tutorial I've seen!!! @w@ Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'll also be browsing through your other videos. OwO
This was a really good armour tutorial. I love how you made it less complicated and much cheaper than what we normally see.

Alyson Tabbitha I need help making my armor do you have any other tips
I've always wondered how people make such intricate costumes, but you actually made it seem doable! I can't wait to try some of these out
I love this because it's so basic but still looks great! I've been wanting to start some armor stuff but all the tutorials overwhelm me because I'm such a newbie at it. Thanks for the video (:
I've begun my cosplan for Zen-Aku from PR Wild Force, and this video made me feel so much more confident in the plan. Thank you for existing.
Gives me hope since all I use is craft foam. Beautiful build!

This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen, and I've watched a TON of videos on making armor.
You're so skilled in making Light's costumes. Hope to see your cosplay as Lunafreya of Final Fantasy XV
girl you are a Cosplay goddess!! this is seriously going to help me because I'm obsessed with the dragoon garb and this one is so similar! can't wait to implement these techniques. thanks so much!!
This was such a great video! I'm planning on doing my first armour build next year and this gave me a whole new perspective on how to approach it!
I love what you did to make this armor! I am in process of making armor out of craft foam, and the way you made the part I'm having issues made it to where I have a better idea of how to go about it (than the way I was attempting to). Thank you so much for posting this video. Your costume turned out amazing, and keep up the great job!
omg my mind is blown away.....I wish I knew about your techniques before I built my very first body armor a few years ago but thank you so much for uploading this video, especially with the armor attachments!
I will really dumb it's never occurred to me to paint the elastic. That's brilliant!

Wow this is amazing. You must have endless patience! I'm not sure I'd ever be able to produce something like this but I would love to learn. Thank you for this :)
although I do like worbla, it's amazing how you've used craft foam! and thank you for showing how and where you attach the pieces to you with elastic, there are plenty of videos on cosplay armour but very few actually show that in detail! I love watching your videos!
8:43 Tipp: Use Googly Eyes. Not only are they cheap and give you a good little smooth detail, it also looks hillarious before you paint it. :D
@AlysonTabbitha

I sometimes use googly eyes but I couldnt find the right size ones at my local store and didn't want to drive around looking for them lol also dots of glue achieve the same look and cost nothing xD

yes it works well, also theres a paint thats almost like a thick paste, like a gel, when it hardens it becomes like plastic, its like painting in 3d...
I am living!!!! For your cosplay!! You are so modest and talented! You are going to be a huge youtuber soon I just know it!! You give such quality videos!!! You deserve more subscribers!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜

this video just gave me hope of one day doing an armor cosplay, worbla intimidates me!!

I think Worbla or Thibra are mainly used for a "smoother" surface for painting. When it comes to armor, you can make it out of anything.
@AlysonTabbitha
7 жыл бұрын
In my experience, worbla has a bumpy texture, foam it much smoother in that case without prepping. But worbla armor probably it more durable! Though this costume has been through a lot for 2 years and is holding up okay!
This video only has 5,000 of views!? Are you kidding me? Oh please, this is a really great art piece!
Amazing tutorial
About 2 weeks ago, I had this cosplay where the shoulder guard didn't have any "visible" way to attach it. (i.e Straps) So, I hot-glued a few sew-in fasteners to the inside of the shoulder guard and sewed in the other half to the shoulder of the top.
This is so helpful, I'm only 15 and I'm trying to do a Ghost cosplay from the ant man and the wasp, this has really helped
Equilibrium Dark Muse Shadow Trooper Primavera Midnight Mauve L'ange Noir Passion Rouge Sand Fox Cyber Jumpsuit Purple Lightning Any of these (or the rest for that matter) would be amazing. Also, thanks again for sharing!
Thank you for showing us your techniques on how you make an armor! And from something that isn't as expensive as worbla X'D Amazing costume and very detailed and well- made!💜
This video was my inspiration to make my Lightning cosplay, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video. I get super anxious about working on armor cosplays but this reminded me it's not super hard and that with a little bit of time and effort I can try and make things.
Thank you for making this video! This was really helpful. I've made armor out of worbla and it's really uncomfortable/painful to wear. The price doesn't help either. I was hoping to go in the craft foam direction and this gives me hope that is quite possible. You did a great job making your armor and you look like Lightning herself!
I'm in complete awe of the outcome! and all with craft foam! this video has given me such a great idea as to how to do my armor build, thank you!
I love love LOVE that you use such affordable and easy to get materials and everything always looks so amazing.
Some interesting and innovative techniques. Many of which I will be adding to my skillbox. Thank you! Your armor looks completely amazing.
I just subscribed to your channel! You are so inspirational and kind! I love that in your videos you're not using super high priced materials (i.e make-up, tools, craft tools) because it shows that you don't have to have a ton of money to be crazy talented and create amazing things. I'm getting into cosplay and I've recently started making my costumes from hand and it's really easy to get discouraged by other cosplayers that have more money. Thank you for being you!
it's very cool to see someone using something dufferent than worbla and obtening a result as good as everyone (better *^*). thanks to you for the vid
THAT'S BEAUTIFUL! You did a great Job Alyson! 😍 😍

Great Tutorial! I think I may have actually been to the glade where the intro was filmed. If I'm right there is actually a mall just down the road that is perfect for photo shoots. Very Venetian, AC 2 vibe, and they even have a Louis Vuitton store with a poster of Lighting in the storefront. May be worth checking out.
Finally, someone didn't cover everything in fucking WORBLA!

I got Overwatch in December and fell in love with my main Mercy. I really want to cosplay her but I've never made armor and I know that it'd be super difficult make. I was considering dropping it all together since I couldn't afford worbla and wasn't sure how to use craft foam to it's full potential but this video has not only been super helpful but I have a lot of drive to make it now! ^_^ Thank you so much for this video!
