Crackdown: a documentary by Bristol24/7 on the city's war on drugs

In October 2015 police in Bristol launched a crackdown on drug dealers in the city. 66 people have now been jailed for a total of more than 180 years. We return to St Paul's and Easton to find out if life has changed for the community and the people caught up in the cycle of drugs and dealing. I'm a middle-aged white conservative male. I have been walking these very streets for 13 years. Nobody has ever shown me any aggression. This is not a no-go area.

Drahcir Nevarc true, but I think things have changed since about 10-20 years ago. I live in Easton and overtime I realised that there are less gangs of people on roads nowadays.

A ceaseless war. And a colossal waste of resources. Isn't it time we took a new approach when it comes to illegal drugs?

Load of crap. You've been able to get any drugs class c to a all areas in Bristol for years. In fact you can get drugs anywhere in the country. Drugs are rife in the UK and lots of people do them. No matter what they do or who they are. Politicians, doctors, etc all social classes, Legalise the weed. And actually have the resources to help. Bristol has no proper sources or rehabs. Until they can provide more rehabilitation centres in this country we are going to be going round and round.

I used to go in that black and white cafe on the regular. Bit intimidating as I was a white non local from the country towns. Cheapest place to feed my addiction at the time tho. Thank fuck that's all over now.

Oh my gosh😢 no development, or government investment programs went to Bristol all these years! I moved to Canada in the mid seventies from Bristol and in Toronto up until now they have a strong desire to always invest in people in work skills. BRISTOL was denied a lot of funding for employment centers, skills training, and resources for young people finishing secondary school. And ended up living in viscous cycles and spending life in prison. This is so unfair. Racism dose still exist towards blacks in England. What a shame!

5.05 he talks about st pauls and easton having people who are mainly on drugs, but there are poor white areas and working white areas where drug taking is rife too. The only difference is some areas like the black ones such as easton and st pauls are sensationlised whereas the said crime in white areas is not. The officer in the video is Bias, and likely creates and shapes the bias, through his thinking by targeting those areas and people, therefore adding to stats which claim these areas are more prone to drugs. While the white areas ignored, never are patrolled for drugs therefore never have an accurate stats on their drug taking, dealing and usage.

+dominic clarke Fair enough, you're absolutely right, but I think he's referring to white people in places like Montypee & St Werbergs, who do go to SP for this purpose. I agree though, there needs to be a comparable focus on comparable behaviour in white areas, and there isn't.
