Crab Army as Natural Herbicide

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Crab Army as Natural Herbicide
What you are seeing is an army of natural herbicides. These critters are Panjin River Crabs.
Farmers introduce them to the rice fields early in the growing season, just as the rice plants begin to take root.
Why crabs, you ask? Well, these crablings play a crucial role. As they grow, they help keep the fields healthy by eating pests and weeds, which means farmers can use fewer pesticides. Plus, their natural movement aerates the soil, boosting rice growth!
The rice plants get a cleaner, richer environment to grow in, while the crabs thrive in the nutrient-rich waters. It's a win-win situation that favors the farmer.
When the crabs reach the right size, it’s harvest time! Farmers use ingenious traps that catch them without much effort. The crabs are later sorted by size and quality, ensuring only the best make it to market.

3,5 billion mouth eat rice everyday, while millions upon millions acres of rice fields disappear in asia because of industrialization. Why peoples who still have huge land with enough waters for irrigation do not see this as an opportunity is beyond me, you know how much an asian willing to pay for an organic rice ?...pound per pound it is ridiculously expensive compared to the other grains commodities, but we buy it anyway 😂

Rice is life. As long as you have rice, you have a meal. Rice can be milled into flour, sugar, liquor, hair and skin care. Has a long shelf life. Organic rice isn't cheap either.

It's nice knowing there is sustainable farming for rice out there. No pesticides, no weed killers. Just crabs doing what they naturally do, and then also being eaten for food to help feed a nation.

Just make sure to be careful about what animals you introduce to an area, especially if they aren't native there. Many invasive species were brought to their new ranges as so called "natural solutions" which ended up doing far more harm than good

@@sr969 Do you know the climate in most of the United States that's still uninhabited? Rice wouldn't do well there. Actually, it wouldn't grow well anywhere in the US other than where we grow other plants that need a lot of water and such, which is generally along the southern edge of the US. Much of the unused land in the US is that way for multiple reasons, most of which are that they're state parks or nature preserves, difficult terrain which isn't easily inhabited, or not good for farm land. It takes a lot of money to build entire infrastructure out of nowhere. The US is around 3000 miles across, and about 1500-2000 miles wide tops (depending on where you have the bottom point end). I know it seems like we have tons of rich land that can be used for stuff like this, but the reality is usually a lot different. The US also has two mountain ranges spanning several states, tons of desert and arid areas, and a lot of foothills or super flat land with sandy, poor soil for crop growth. At the very least, some crops that might do very well here aren't able to be consistently planted over large swaths of land, so it dimishes the profitability by a lot.

@@christal2641correct, we have a massive problem with the asian fish here. They’re super beneficial to their place of origin but when they got introduced to our area, they proliferated into an uncontrollable invasive species here, threatening native marine environments - snake head fish, asian jumping carp, it’s bad enough we have the pet trade goldfish being released & taking over our great lakes.
