CPU Core Count vs Clock Speed: What Matters More?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There's a lot going on inside your CPU, but some of the key variables are core counts and clock speeds. Which one is more important? What should you focus on when buying a new CPU? The answer, as is often the case, is a little more complicated than just one thing or the other.
Here's our guide explaining the difference between CPU core counts and clock speeds.

A high clock speed allows the cpu to process things faster, while many cores allow the cpu to process multiple things at a time

Why a cpu with tons of core counts cant maxed out its potential even though the GPU is not maxed yet (so called bottleneck) , what kinda bottleneck is that when cpu barely sitting at 40% and the gpu cant do more than 70% ish? If the cpu 100% and gpu 70% its called cpu bottleneck

no matter what you are doing, having a higher clock speed will improve performance. Getting more cores can help but not always.

Correct answer would be, get optimum number of cores you need for given workload, and from there as much clock speed as you can get.

Hz is the times per second. 1 Ghz (Giga Hertz) is 1000000000Hz aka 1 billion times per second. so 3.9Ghz is 3900000000Hz aka 3.9 billion times per second which he rounds up to 4 billion. most computer screens use a 60hz display. this means it can display 60 frames per second. again using Hertz as the number of times something happens per second Hope this helps! But clock speed is more important because os can't alter the basis hardware firm ware defined clock of read and write which os had to wait or catch up

Which is better. Duel core with 2.1ghz or quade core with 1ghz? Buying a lap top. Duel core is 300 bucks and the quade core is 600 bucks

  • @pajamas720

I would say duel core because the overall speed is higher and its cheaper, but theres so many other variables like if one or both is multithreaded, how old is each, what features it supports (and which you really need), etc. Im guessing the duel core is cheaper because its older so you might be losing out on some features as well as raw power even if its technically the faster cpu.

Ok first off lets remove ourselves from 1980s thinking and realize the more lanes on a highway the less the traffic is and fast cores is essential as well but what they do not tell you is it work the way its programed to do so if you want a game to work well with fast singe core compute simply program it that way or program it for more cores and it will work the same however with more cores things change were now with more cores more work is done and leaves you more room to do multiple things at once and programmers can go around needing more speed by using more cores making it more likely you will not purchase a new CPU which intel does not want to happen so they push the fast core narrative lie. Think about it more men more work done its very simple to understand does not take a rocket scientist to understand whoever is selling more cores Understands Science much better.
