CPCS A17 - Telescopic Handler
Course Content
◦Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
◦Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology.
◦Confirm with Manufacturer’s requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and the relevant regulations and legislation.
◦Undertake all pre-use checks.
◦Configure and ready for travel (site and highway).
◦Travel over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level surfaces - loaded and unloaded.
◦Manoeuvre in confined spaces (with and without loads).
◦Configure and set for lifting and transferring duties.
◦Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services.
◦Lift and remove various loads up to full extension and working height of the telescopic handler.
◦Transfer and place loads accurately at given locations.
◦Place and remove loads from a vehicle.
◦Maintain safe working situations.
◦Maintain safe and tidy working areas.
◦Carry out shut down and securing procedures.
◦Explain the loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting.
Outcome
On successful completion of the Theory & Practical tests the candidate is awarded the Red Trained Operators Card which is valid for two years.

I did mine last week. Took me an hour and 11 minutes and i wasn't hanging about. Had to lift at height, go up ramps, take off forks etc.

If I take 1 from the front no2 directly from behind No1 is that a fail?
I DID MINE, SAME PLACE,
Is that the full test? I mean, shouldn't there be the unload at height component?

The sad true is that you wouldn't get a job after course because every employer wants minimum 1 year of experience, but usually they are looking for nvq2 which you can accomplish after 3 years of working on the nvq 1.

Work on site as a grounds worker or labourer and ask to jump into the telehandler to get experience when the main man is on his lunch or break, or stay late after everyone has gone home to get experience, that's what i am doing.

It's not hard to blag the experience. You tell them you've been driving them on your uncle's farm all your life. And don't forget to tell them about that "in house ticket" you had at that site you were labouring on. 😉

@@kyleeaster1214 This is true. If you're a groundworker you can jump on pretty much any machine on site and nobody will bat an eyelid unless you make an arse of yourself.

All of my mates just lie. They find an agency who is thirsty to get people on site then just tell them they have a year experience abroad.
How many people fail first time CITB keep very hush hush about the failed operatives.

They have the statistics on there? It’s about 89% pass rate and it’s been going up each year.
And another fail nan of his lights on and most important his Amber light is of this video is the reason why people fail theirs tests

people have to start somewhere and i would only expect people who are new to be watching these videos, you must be one sad guy to spend your time watching newbies learn
