Hey fans, subscribers and friends!
Well, where do I begin after all this time away. It's hard to believe that the last time I shared a video on KZread was close to 2 years ago! Despite my lengthy hiatus from KZread, I would like everyone to know that I am still very much alive (despite popular belief), and am living a happy and exciting life at Ryerson University in Toronto, where I am studying my first year of Media Production.
I didn't stop posting to KZread because of any traumatic events, bouts of depression, or accidents - I simply got bored of KZread, needed a break and needed to find something new to do. As a result, I set ambitious new goals and have been chasing my dreams ever since.
When I took up still photography a few years back, it provided me with a greater challenge when shooting and telling stories. It also allowed me to develop a stronger eye for composition. In the latter half of Grade 12 I formed a band with some friends from High School, and have recently enjoyed fantastic local reception upon performing our first concert last week. I have since moved away from the countryside, and now call Toronto my home. Ryerson is the one school that I had my heart set on in my later High School years. When I received an early acceptance (being 1 of the 250 people to get accepted from 900 applicants), this signalled a great change in my life.
But after all this time away from KZread, I started to get the feeling that I really owed something to my loyal subscribers and fans who still check in regularly. Although there isn't much new material in this video, you will get to see some shots that have never previously made it onto my page. I can't guarantee that I'll post many new videos as I have a very busy schedule, but for now I hope you enjoy this video!
All the best and thanks for tuning in,
LRF

Great video, my wife's Aunt and Uncle live in Waterdown with their rear garden backing onto the Creek where the rail line climbs the escarpment. First visited them 20 years ago, arrived late in the evening and heard amazing haunting sounds of distant horns together with an increasing sound of of diesel engines working hard up the grade. Absolutely awesome to see and hear long trains with multiple units at the head end, middle and rear of the consist, long may they continue.
look who's back. Great stuff Ryan!
Missed watching your videos. Great to see one again. Excellent video Ryan.
Always nice to see EMDs grinding and takin charge to lift their tonnage.
Great video Ryan! Lashups back then were awsome!
Excellent job as always, Ryan!
I loved that shot at 6:05 of the exhaust blasting out, great video!
Cool video. Good composition. Lots of great clips and nice narration.
Love the EMD footage @ 3:53 on...great sound. Thanks for the video.
Nice to have you back!

Nice, but they want to come and try the BIG hill westbound out of Field, B.C. Birds eye view of all the action bottom to top if you are driving on the Trans Canada Highway.
Insane lash ups... Awesome vid!
Great action and vid
Nicely done.
Nice to have you back. I teach at Ryerson (TRSM) - so greetings to a fellow Ryersonian.
Remember The Diesel Engine of a locomotive runs an Electric Generator that moves the Train.
great video man. I wish you nothing but good wishes and good luck for your future, and some good train vids!
Best of luck embarking on your career path. Jason
You know I never thought of southern Ontario having a mountain grade lol
And he finally uploads! Lol ;) Nice buddy!
I know a little about trains but certainly not everything. I imagine that the limiting factor on the ability of these trains to climb a hill really comes down to having enough friction between the wheels and the track rather than the amount of power that can be drawn from the engines. Is that right?
Nice video! Did you catch these a couple of years ago or?
That's what the company owners get..... They were being tight wads and bought the Red and White, Blue and White and Black and White engines instead of spending the extra money and buying the most powerful engines, the Blue and Yellow ones......... If you'll notice, at about the 4:08 mark, that train has 2 Blue and Yellow engines and that train is not struggling. Also at about 4:50, that train has 1 Blue and Yellow engine and it's not having any trouble. Then at 5:30 that train has 1 Blue and Yellow engine and it is hauling butt............ 4:08 2 ,,,, 4:50 1
Nice video
someone needs a repaint!
