This was the first "gas" powered anything I ever owned. I never got the engine running in the correct direction - always ran backwards. I had no idea what I was doing. So I'd just send it up the street backward. Didn't use the string that it was supposed to be attached to. I have no idea how many times I ran it, how long I had it or what happened to it. I wish as a kid I knew what I'd wish I'd still want now. I would have taken better care of things.

Got mine to run one time. Used two bricks at the end of the sidewalk that angled out so the string could “Y” out. Parachute didn’t work right, and it just brought the bricks together and disintegrated. It was a one-and-done…. never ran again. Those .049 engines were a struggle. But fun. Never got the planes to work. Then went on to Estes rockets. Those, were awesome.

Fuel it, close the needle valve then open it 3 1/2 turns, turn the tires a few times to draw fuel into the engine, prime it, put the battery clip on and turn the tires it almost always fired right up. We had this dragster way back in the mid seventies. I know a lot of viewers were disappointed but that thing was extremely hard to start. There was a small metal loop at the front and back underneath the dragster that you ran a long length of string which was tied to a metal pin at each end that you actually drove into the asphalt.
@MrCarrizojim3 жыл бұрын
I had one of these in the 70s. You are missing a couple essential things that make this car useless without them. It is supposed to run on a 50-60 yd string stretched between two big nails pounded in the pavement with a small knot about 2/3 down. The string should pass through a slotted lever on the underside. That would pop the chute and actuate a choke collar on the exhaust to shut off the motor. Most importantly, you are missing the launcher. You start the car, put it on the launcher, adjust the needle, get it screaming and hit the button that drops the back wheels... mine would run 20-30 mph Can’t believe they are near $1k on eBay. Keep your eyes peeled at yard sales.
