About 1 minute in, I decided this Voice is filled with passion and Nuances. Gillian would like it a lot. Never stop singing Young one.

She played this cover live in Dublin and I've been returning to this video ever since, her singing and masterful guitar playing is just so powerful

If you haven't found her duet of this with Phoebe Bridgers, then it's worth your time. They did it for the virtual Newport Folk Festival in 2020 and it's so perfect.

The well of adoration I have for Courtney Barnett just got dug a little deeper. It's not a flashy performance, but the nods to the charming Rawlings chromatics are so heartwarming. My ex thought this song was originally by Sylvan Esso. She also thought Hallelujah was written by Dispatch, so... not the sole indictment for a failed relationship, but a perfect metaphor. And a reminder that this glazing is not isolated - that music has turned into a bowl of popcorn - a product to be mindlessly consumed, which has allowed its exploitation. Good music is a story and a gift. I believe it matters who is telling it and why.

The fact she even knew this brilliant Gillian Welch tune gives her credibility. It's a gorgeous and respectful cover.

Great song choice, great rendition, and love that she basically became both Welch AND Rawlings.

This made me cry. Things don't make me cry.

Awesome that she added Dave Rawlings’ seasoning, that dissonance, in the instrumentals.

Just flawless. I'm still playing Lotta Sea Lice on repeat. Now comes Tell Me How You Really Feel. Thank you, Courtney!

Just came to visit this video of Courtney singing this song and also visited Gillian Welch’s video. They’re both genius really. Courtney plays Her guitar incredibly beautiful and it’s like she’s playing both the guitar parts Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings are playing together.. Such an awesome talent and voices.

She inspires me to pick up my guitar again. Love you, CB! ♥️♥️

After seeing Courtney Barnett on Austin City Limits, a few months ago, I have become an instant fan... I grew up in the 70s and 80s and she reminds me of that era while still being quite fresh... She is a unique gem :)

One of my favorites covering one of my favorites. She does a terrific job making this song her own while sprinkling in a little Rawlings guitar flavor.

My gosh! I am totally amazed how Courtney can do this song since she does alternative rock. So I'm learning she is versatile. This is refreshing and relief. Since I am very versatile in my music and tastes of genres this really amazes me. So I wasn't sure if she'd like my or other people's styles of music. All the more why I am appreciating her. I love how she does a country/folk song in her own beautiful, alternative/folk melodic way. Although I enjoy Gillian quite much, I really enjoy Courtney and they have their own unique sound. However, I really adore Courtney's version though. Thank you Courtney. Blessings.

By piracy... you mean the entire music publishing industry as it stands currently? Spotify is legal. Apple Music at least pays three cents a play (when they pay), gone are the 79 cent download payouts because everything is a subscription, all content is a license not a physical object or even a file. Napster didn't do this, ffs, the industry was itching to destroy art for decades. Every format change has unilaterally downgraded writers. And people ask where the songwriters went. With exceptions like the wonderful Barnett, songs are now more like reality shows... semi scripted. A thousand "writers" and "producers," but no central vision or commitment. Just... content. Enjoy the wasteland.
