Courtney Dauwalter is one of the greatest ultra runners on the planet. In the history of the sport, there are few athletes who have been as successful and versatile as Courtney - competing and winning races of all different distances and formats. Most recently, Courtney won and broke the course record at the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in what was one of the great ultra performances of all-time, finishing 7th overall. This was her second victory at the world's most important event. We talk all about the UTMB victory in this conversation but also spend time on the Hardrock 100, where Courtney unfortunately succumbed to a DNF earlier in the summer. Hear what Courtney learned there and how that disappointment led to a transcendental victory at UTMB only six weeks later.

Such a joy to see Courtney turn around the disappointment of the Hardrock DNF - into the UTMB… historic win. 🔥
Just ran my very first ultra on Saturday in buena vista with Courtney (she won obviously!) I was too embarrassed to go tell her she has been my biggest inspiration in my new venture to be an ultra runner but I hope she knows how inspiring she is. It was an honor to run on the same trails as her

Yep! The West Line Winder 50k and then she ran the Sawatch Ascent 50k the next day for the “Sawatch 50/50”. Incredible

Genius training advice.
Absolutely awesome interview with Courtney, such a real person, honest & funny. I'm 55 & have found, like you guys, that if you want to keep running you need to do that little bit of strength/flexibility work. Doing my first long trail race here in NZ in Dec after being inspired by watching UTMB! Incredible race, amazing athletes, loved it ❤

Yes, It’s o.k to be disappointed and process that disappointment with solutions within your own time. Ultimately, you don’t want to dwell on problems too long, but instead use the solutions of any given problem to bring to the next goal. Dylan was spot on to ask the question, “ What was the problem at hard rock that became a blessing for U.T.M.B?

I do same thing, i never wanted to be tied into a "plan"- It is easy to understand for me!! She listens to herself. I am attempting 50 k in trails from being a marathoner !!!!! I can not wait!!
I had a dream two days ago. I was on the start line in Squaw Valley chatting with Courtney. I must turn that dream to the reality (at least to get to the starting line, the chat does not depend just on me):-))). Working on it :-)
