And design as well. Katz has a lot of sharp corners, like the elbows, knees, ears, cheeks, snout, mouth and eyes. On the flip side, Courage's were more round to the point that he got 'noodle' limbs

Courage's limbs looks like one of those old cartoon where the limbs are simplyfied. Instead of having 2 straight lines connected to simmulate legs with it's knees, Courage's legs are just curved lines

Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s being afraid and facing it anyway. And when Muriel is in danger, he always faces it. Courage is not a cowardly dog, he’s the bravest dog. Katz, mummies, alien chickens, weremoles, that relative of Muriel that shaved him. Seriously that last one is hands down the scariest situation Courage has been in. If you know what it was meant to represent, it’s worse than anything else in Nowhere. Even guys like Katz would be like “That’s messed up.”

As part of my job requirements, I had to watch a program about Drugs and Drug Testing. They played Katz's theme over the survivor testimonies, and it was all I could think about.

It's one of my most vivid memories of the whole series

This show described Katz perfectly without any words. In one episode he didn’t say shit just stood by Muriel’s washing machine, and poured bleach all into the colored clothes and then pressed wash while she screamed in terror, that shit was pure evil

Katz is just like Albert Wesker. Never won against Courage (Chris) but always playing games, calm, sadistic and brutal to the very end. Capable of killing his enemy, but always toying too long due to arrogance and finally losing.

Tbf he always beat Courage in the games they play, he always gets beaten because of an oversight. Great villain. Always brought the best out of Courage.

The voice acting and the dark theme song really made Katz seem more like a James Bond villain. Classy, well-spoken, subtle; until you do something he wishes you hadn't done.

He voice and speaking-manner reminds me of Albert Wesker.

When I was younger, I found him quite scary in my opinion, the fact he's not a supernatural being just a tall skrunkly cat. He looks and acts like treat to Courage, the voice, his theme song, makes him a cool/scary villain

You know, despite this being a "kids show", it's very good at creating genuinely intimidating, creepy, and unnerving situations and villains. The sounds, the voice-acting (Katz VA does an amazing job), the subtle (and not-so-subtle) adult themes, and the visuals all work together to create something special. Modern day cartoons/anime/movies could learn a thing or two from this show.

Kids were too young to know how disturbing this show is. The monsters were scary when I was a kid, as an adult it’s the themes, locations and plots that I find scary.

Katz first episode with the spiders the part he's walking and Courage running and screaming always crack me up.

that episode was kinda creepy, back when I was a kid, it always spooked me watching that. it's surprising to see how much this show got away with it, in terms of content. coz of the stuff they show here is very hardcore for a kids cartoon

5:50 I love how in this scene, he's genuinely surprised at the fact that the 'dummy' is actually Courage.

I love Katz. He's such a well-written characters. A softly spoken sociopath with a british accent. He also loves to drink tea. I love his interactions with Courage, every time he plays a game with Courage he always wins but he's ultimately defeated in some way. His first appearence was the best, it made him look more of a threat. Also love when he plays the game of the handball with Courage. It's so well done and the music that plays during it, is so intense.

Katz is without a doubt the darkest villain in CTCD along with the Queen of the Black Puddle as both characters have strongly implied to murdered many innocent lives and show no remorse for their crimes. If you look carefully at the beginning you can see skeletal remains implying they were humans Katz fed to his spiders and similarly the Queen has a collection of human male skeletons suggesting she has seduced, kidnapped and murdered hundreds of men.

There are quite a few extremely dark episodes of Courage! Freaky Fred, the Zalost stuff, and I also think the last episode featuring Courage's parents is viscerally disturbing in a way none of the rest of the show ever really got. Im convinced Courage was canceled because of the vet episode, not the perfection episode. the idea that your parents could be taken from you is a horrific reality that is pretty traumatic to present to young kids. stuff like Fred goes mostly (hopefully!) overhead but the idea of losing your parents isnt so easy to overlook.

He wants his evil plans to succeed using his cunning, his wit, and his skill, but he's foiled by violence and brutality (Muriel hitting him with a tennis racket, Eustace smashing up his operation as a wrecking ball, swallowed by a shark, lowered into a taffy machine by Courage, falling into a chasm caused by Courage's deliberate loud screaming).

A badass villain that has his own theme song everytime he enters a room

Katz had one of the most sinister themes I've ever heard, and he's just as sinister.

Katz Will always be One of courage's most feared enemies.

As a kid with severe Arachnophobia back in the day, the first time meeting seeing Katz was just one hell of a head spin, because I definitely love cats and Katz!,

I'm sorry but how the hell is Katz not even wincing in pain from the neck cracks? Seriously? That does not sound healthy.

Katz is the kind of villain who would probably serve great as leader of something much deeper

I could tell the difference in the staring contest immediately, even as a kid...Courage had his fully open from the start, your eyes dry out so much faster that way

Katz has a cool villain dynamic, he's cunning, sleek, stealthy and can put down anyone who he can capture within his schemes, but he's incredibly weak to direct damage, suffering heavy injury from just one strong blow.

Maybe that's part of the reason he keeps tiring Courage out first with his games.

Ngl. Katz was one of the most terrifying characters on this show when I was a kid.

The scariest villains are the ones with the most calm sounding demeanors/voices masking their true twisted self.

This show beat the shit out of courage, but y'know why that was awesome? Because he never gave up, not once. He takes the punishment and keeps going.

. . . Why does he have to sound that dog damn sexy? Like seriously, that voice and that God damn smile and classic feline teasing behavior just sells his character so freaking good. It's velvet and silk had a baby that cuts like a knife.

It's the same problem I have with the computer, they didn't have to make his voice *_That Sexy_* but they did. They knew what they were doing.

I care about Katz way too much he lives in my brain rent free 💅

I knew Katz was a great villain, but rewatching this clip made me realize just how scary he was, and it totally flew by my mind as a kid. When he comes out of the shadows saying "there's no place to run, and no place to hide" definitely hits you hard.

Yeah and the fact that he scared my father's 3 cousins: Jair who was a cop for over 40 years, Hernando & Mirabel who were in the army for over 40 years, and my best friend's grandfather who fought in the Vietnam War(and they had torturous booby traps for the US soldiers) speaks volumes about how terrifying he is.

Katz is worth of being a Top Tier Villian in my book. He gave me chills when i was young....

i wish Katz was in the show more he was basically the anti-Courage and by far the most memorable antagonist of the entire series but i could say the same for so many characters from this series it was such a good series

4:00 footage of me and my friend going down to my minecraft mining cave

I had forgotten about the submarine episode, seeing a part of it again gave me so much nostalgia This is both such a horrifying and delightful show to watch

This show gave me so many nightmares and was a teen when this show came out and it still freaked me out. But I could not stop watching it. It was just to good.

I remember as a kid, I was trully scared about Katz. Then, have that episode in the beach where he meets Courage owners. In that episode, Katz make a kind keys noise that he's carring, y'know? Then, one night where I was sleeping with my parents in a bedroom in my grandma's house, I remember waking up in the middle of the night, and just hearing that keys sound, just like the episode. I don't know if was just my kid's mind imagining this after a dream, and because Katz used to really scary me. But I remember that memory.

I would’ve lost my composure at 4:35 cause of that expression XD

6:34 I think it's cool how the Cajun Fox and Katz were in the same scene along with the other villains joining with Eustace to beat up Courage. One loves to make sweets and the other wanted to make Granny Stew out of Muriel.

Katz was the scariest villain in the whole series. The most sadistic and someone who actually killed and enjoyed doing so. The mermaid/siren too.

@@THETRIVIALTHINGS They actually knew quite a few criminals similar to Katz but his methods of killing people(feeding them to his pet spiders, turning them to objects, blowing them up in a submarine, etc.) are what gave them nightmares.

Courage screaming will never get old to me haha.

Same! His screaming cracks me up every time. I never found this show to be scary. It’s hilarious. Even when I was a little kid in elementary, I found it hilarious.

I like how Katz can take games like handball, dodgeball, and starting contests feel so intense. Like it's a game of life and death

3:50 this song was something as simple as a drum beat and a violin playing 2 pitched notes to the beat. But it was SO iconic to me of how intense it was.

This man’s up there for me as one of the coolest cartoon villains

I love this show so much, it’s so special to me. It introduces kids to the idea that animation and horror is an art form. Its so raw and treats its viewers with sincerity, not dumbing down the dialogue, character complexities and interactions, and watering down the spook factor of it all. The Mask episode is one of the craziest things I’ve seen on television, not just kids animation. It’s so impressive

The show is so striking in its visuals too. Nothing over-elaborate, but the background scenery is almost always done in a dramatically different art style than the characters. The animators were so incredibly effective at creating unease just through those artistic choices. Surrealism at its finest.

I remember vibing to Katz’s theme as a kid. It definitely suits his character.

I love Katz and one of the main reasons is how he’s basically the main antagonist Courage has to fight. (Other than maybe Eustace) His calm demeanor and silly acts make him fun but the music and talent from the voice actor genuinely creep me out.

Katz theme sounds like cells theme from dbz.

In the Katz Kandy episode I seriously wonder how Katz would react if Muriel just gave him the first place trophy, it wouldn't be outta character for her either

I love how Katz doesn't even acknowledge past encounters that much, and just calls him dog
