Is India gradually converting from buffer-and-chain to Janney couplers, and they use adapters like this to keep them compatible during the transition era? Seems to make a lot of sense, Europe could learn from this - they're so afraid to change to a more modern coupler as it would require changing all their equipment at once, which would be hugely expensive and disruptive. This shows that they can do it gradually.

the locos here have both CBC as well as buffer and chain couplers, it depends upon what type of coach is being connected in this case it's an ICF coach which is old and is working on chain system, although railways are upgrading their coupler to CBC the newer LHB coaches have CBC couplers and are now being mass produced by authorities to replace the old ICF rakes, we may expect them to get fully replaced in the next 4-5 years the goods train rakes are also being equipped with CBC couplers making it easier to connect any rake with coaches and locos

Wap5 can run upto 224 km/h speed but it struggles to haul more than 16 to 17 Coaches.. whereas Wap7 can pull upto 160km/h and can haul 25 to 26 coaches within a fraction of seconds.Therefore wap5 Fastest but wap 7 is powerful in terms of hauling.

@058 SAKET durga prasad 6B Wdap5 & wagc3 is the king👑Now. Almost a topseed of 150/180km/h. & wag9/12 r best in terms of hauling its speed is 120 km/h only maximum.

Compare to wap4 HOG coupling is the best Coupling and it's modified engine!
