Lyrics:
Every drop of rain that falls
In Sahara Desert says it all
It's a miracle
All God's creations great and small
The Golden Gate and the Taj Mahal
That's a miracle
Test tube babies being born
Mothers, fathers dead and gone
It's a miracle
We're having a miracle on earth
Mother nature does it all for us
The wonders of this world go on
The hanging Gardens of Babylon
Captain Cook and Cain and Abel
Jimi Hendrix to the Tower of Babel
It's a miracle, it's a miracle
It's a miracle, it's a miracle
The one thing we're all waiting for
Is peace on earth, an end to war
It's a miracle we need, the miracle
The miracle we're all waiting for today
If every leaf on every tree
Could tell a story that would be
A miracle
If every child on every street
Had clothes to wear and food to eat
That's a miracle
If all God's people could be free
To live in perfect harmony
It's a miracle
We're having a miracle on earth
Mother nature does it all for us
(The wonders of this world go on)
Open hearts and surgery
Sunday mornings with a cup of tea
Super powers always fighting
Mona Lisa just keeps on smiling
It's a miracle, it's a miracle
It's a miracle, it's a miracle
(The wonders of this world go on)
It's a miracle, it's a miracle
It's a miracle, it's a miracle
The one thing (the one thing)
We're all waiting for (we're all waiting for)
Is peace on earth (peace on earth)
And an end to war (an end to war)
It's a miracle we need - the miracle
The miracle, peace on earth
And end to war, today
That time will come one day you'll see
When we can all be friends
That time will come one day you'll see
When we can all be friends
That time will come one day you'll see
When we can all be friends
That time will come one day you'll see
When we can all be friends
That time will come

Brian May said that this is his favorite of the songs that Freddie wrote… Because even tho Fred was aware of his terminal diagnosis at this time, the lyrics are so full of HOPE and OPTIMISM for the future.💕

amazing! :) was so interesting to watch, the only thing i not understood was why the drummer goes off beat, and they kept it? it is clearly happening at the end, im curious why they kept it, and why it happened, because i know they are professionals so it have to be there for some reason

Reason: WHY NOT?! They have ears, so... It's eclectic, progressive etc. They've always tried new things in studio, like Beatles for example. Listen to the Seven Seas of Rhye ending as well. We don't have to analyze everything every time, they thought why not, and that's it. You over-reacted and over-analyzed it a bit (for like 5 minutes :))

For me the switch always felt symbolic. The fast section is like the dark side of life. And then you have the 2 different tempo's. It changes from dark to the happy, better world when the miracle happens: peace on earth and end to war.

Rest assured, at this point in his life, Freddie was still in the control room going over every single note and lyrics with a fine toothed comb. He was a perfectionist and their studio recordings are exactly as he wanted them. There are several Queen songs that seem to change genre as they go along. ✌💖😀

I agree with you that the tempo switch sounds or feels wrong, to a musician. And I think you could be right that they put two songs together (Freddie had a habit of writing pieces in that way.) But I think it’s a critical part of this piece and was done very much on purpose. When you think about the message in the song and try to line it up with what was happening to Freddie and the world at the time, the off-balance nature of the song makes a lot of sense. Freddie and so many other people were dying from a tragic fatal disease while most people just kept trying to pretend it wasn’t happening and refused to do anything about. Even so, Freddie still had high hopes for himself and for the world. I’m sure it was an incredibly difficult time for him and much of the music he wrote during those years reflects that. This is one of those pieces.

Queens video of Bohemian Rhapsody was the first. Other bands followed. So Queen is actually responsible for the music channels MTV and VH1 that show music videos. This song was written by Freddie. Read the lyrics and you’ll see why it’s amazing he wrote them as he was so I’ll. Take into account Freddie knew he was dying by then. This video won awards for best video for a song that year.

  • @Sassypaws4927

The idea for the song came from Freddie and bassist John Deacon, who wrote the basic chord structure for the song. All four contributed to the lyrics and musical ideas, and the song was still credited to the entire band, something they had agreed to do so during the album recording, regardless of who had been the actual writer. Even though this was recorded after Freddie's diagnosis of AIDS was revealed to the band and was recorded during Brian's marital issues, its beautiful perspective of the world made it one of the favorites for both Freddie and Brian. The song describes several of “God’s creations, great and small”, such as great buildings like the Taj Mahal and the Tower of Babel, all described as “miracles” in the song, yet the one miracle “we’re all waiting for” is “peace on Earth and an end to war.” The song also references such well-known figures as Captain Cook, Cain and Abel, and Jimi Hendrix. I strongly disagree with your assessment. This song is great!

That transition was definitely noticeable as you said. It sounded like a cross-fade to me done in the mix but I can't be certain. I looked in my book to see what I could find about the song and there was nothing about that transition. Queen are perfectionists so I have no doubt is was intentional. They did a nationwide search for those kids but were still surprised by how good they were. Freddie was quite ill at the time. They released the single in November of 1989 and joked about sending the kids out on tour for them. The recording of this album marked a change in the way that Queen credited their songs. They began crediting them as written by Queen rather than by individuals which took much of the stress out of recording and made it more fun for them because they would all get paid for the writing credits. This also meant that only the best songs made it on the record because they didn't have to worry about balancing the writing credits to create equal pay. I believe it was around this time when Freddie finally told the band he had AIDs but told them not to tell anyone. They reportedly would work for three weeks then take two weeks off so Freddie could rest and the others could do solo projects. In this way, they were able to continue to produce as much music as possible in the time Freddie had left. They were already working on their next album, Innuendo, before The Miracle was even released. Brian has said in documentaries that this time together was fun like the old days and they became very close and rallied around Freddie. Freddie seemed to need the music to get through this time and give him purpose to get up every day. By this time, the British press were camped out at Freddie's house night and day with their cameras trained on his bedroom/bathroom and checking every car that entered the driveway for medications so they spent much of their recording time in Switzerland so Freddie could have a break from the press and give him some peace.

Breakthrue and the Miracle is on the same album. Freddie grew his beard while making the album The Game which was released on June 30th, 1980, The Miracle was released on May 22th. 1989. It was their 12th album. Freddie made one more album before he died in 1991. After the Tribute Concert in 1992 the rest of the band made Made in Heaven with material Freddie left for them to finish. The last song Mother Love Brian had to sing the last verse because Freddie went home to rest - - he never returned. After Freddie died Brian wrote a last song No one but You (Only the good die young).

Yes, and there is a name for this, it’s called OFMD. “Obsessive Freddie Mercury Disorder” and there is no cure, because we don’t want one. Freddie was not just another singer, he is a feeling. Freddie gets into your heart and into your soul, and once he’s there he’s there forever. There is something so incredible about him that we don’t think of him as gone, because his presence is still very much alive. So your not alone, millions of people have the same disorder. If I’m going to have any kind of disorder this is the one I want. We genuinely love him

Nice reaction again! I like that you review the song from a musician perspective. I have always thought there is something wrong with the time signatures etc in that transition bit. Its something with the pace of the vocals when that new beat comes in. Oh well. I have always liked the transition even though there might be an error there. And yes. This song is from the album "The Miracle" released in 1989. The "train song" also known as "Breahtru" is also from this album. :)

I'm certain the youngsters are not heard playing at all. And I'm certain the change in tempo/mood was extremely purposeful...Life can immediately bring one a sense of tragedy....especially when the future b4 was glorious. That happened to Queen. This work by the Queen team is a brilliant composition, lyrically, musically and visually.EDIT: isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder?

Something went wrong with the switch in the recording. It was a lot smoother transition in all the other videos I’ve seen. Something glitched in this one. This song was on the second to last album Freddie did with Queen when he was still alive. He wasn’t well at all and they thought having the children would be fun. They had open auditions to find just the right kids. Freddie wrote this song and it’s amazing how he found miracles in everyday life while he was facing his own mortality.

This is really hilarious. This boy doesn't know much about music. He calls the most beautiful part of the song “wrong”. It's genius how the fade out of the song disappears into the outro and connects the two parts. Of course you can not like this, but to start shouting that there is a mistake in the song and then start a whole story about you not understanding it and that they must have heard it themselves… Of course they heard it! It’s the arrangement of the song and it is brilliant. This is what music is all about.
