PERFECT! Thank you so much! That’s all I needed, and I didn’t have to plow through a 15-minute tutorial to find the gem. 😀

How about do an hour of Floyd Cramer type stuff

  • @jamesdavis5096

I think it would make for an entertaining video, and some other commenters are correct like an hour long video of you playing Floyd Cramer

Hey James - thank you, but I don't' know if I can do an hour of the great Floyd Cramer's repertoire! Here's two for you though... kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXul1rSFpLKZXZc.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/fn2us9SLla3QlNI.html

So even though it shows 2 or even 3 slip notes, Is it normal to just pick one? So far I’ve just been picking out which ever sounds the best to me, not really knowing what I’m doing as far as slip notes. I wish the piano books would explain things like this, whenever there is something special in the book.

Hey Garrett. The middle slip note seems to be the most common (in songs like Last Date). And yes, as an improvising pianist, go with sounds best to you AND what works best for the song melody, fill, or solo. Keep in mind you are not limited to slipping just the middle note of a chord. Top and bottom slip notes will give you more melodic options.

I guess hear it a lot in "It was what it was" - is there a tutorial for this song or just a video of you playing it? Would love to learn it)

Is this not a pedal steel on piano ???

  • @chrisnolemusic

Hey Bugman - yes it is! The move is sometimes called a 'pedal'. Floyd Cramer called it a slip note - and he was the first to popularize the technique on piano.
