I find so much of the music of that era, my salad days, entirely delicate and whimsical, simply lovely, even J.Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow, contains so much really good musicians-ship and great melodies. Its a pity really that more folks really have never heard most of it.

I am 73, turning 74 in July. Hearing this when I was in high school really shattered all the conventions and sent me into the San Francisco underground, along with Jefferson doing White Rabbit.

I was 22 going on 23. Now going on 80. Hard to believe but I am glad I was alive at that time. I've played Section 43 hundreds of times since then. Wondrous !

~ Good as this is, it isn't the entire piece; it was edited for time to be included in the film. Long ago I had a box set recording of the Monterey Festival and it had this, only unedited. Good as this is, the uncut performance is much better.

I've loved this instumental for decades and there is still so much great music from this amazing musical era yet to explore. Nothing in recent years appeals to me, but that's ok.....plenty of great music from back then to keep me satisfied and inspired.

@mtopper66 right on !...you could refer them to the Woodstock 1969 dvd or many clips on haight ashbury in San Fran in 67-68. I am 65 and lived through all of it. Times now are tame compared to the summer of love ..lol !

its almost sad, the quality of the film is so good that it looks like it could have been recorded recently. the setting reminds me a bit of rougham tree fair in suffolk in the early 80s, which had agood atmosphere with robin williamson and some of fairport convention playing

Ive always thought the guy at 5:30 looks like a young Bob Dylan. ....and Ive always loved that shirt Country Joe wears here. They were really amazing musicians. Joe is.....kind of ...full of shit at times... but I love the band anyways.
