The countries of North America have pretty much been the same for the last hundred years so. But there were dozens of different countries before the lines on the map became what they are today. In this video, we’ll look at some countries that used to exist before the 20th century.

Pretty interesting! Did you know that Australia was originally soposed to be several different countries? In 1901, they decided to join up and become one country. Thats why each state has a different railway gague, which causes a lot of problems today.

I live off highway 7. Freedonia street. On Rifle road. The Marx brothers came and visited Nacogdoches a long time ago Their mother was a miser. In a journey from Nacogdoches to Shreveport the marx brothers mother was critisied by a railway conductor. One of your sons is having a shave and your other son is drinking a beer. And you try and say they are minors? There is roaches in Nacogdoches..

This video is misnamed as it deals almost exclusively with the USA, nor does it mention the Republic of Vermont. I wondered why the US had not tried to take Baha California as part of its later acquisitions and see there was at let a private attempt to do so. However, really apart from the Canadian colonies which confederated there is no mention of Newfoundland which did not join up in 1867 and remained independent as a Commonwealth Dominion until it joined Canada in 1948. Newfoundland therefore had national battle honours in WW1 and WW2 alongside Australia, South Africa, NZ and Canada.

Because it was self proclaimed, not recognised, nor did it do the things that countries actually do. Texas had currency, an army and navy, embassies/legations at home and abroad, and was recognised by several major world powers. Ditto Hawai'i.
