Im a turk and yes we did a lot of migration we originate in the Han Dynasty in the Xiongu confederacy uyghurs/uighurs oghuz turks (aka ottomans seljuks and Turkey) we are the most diverse and most spreaded ethnicity in the world spanning from Russia to china to Central europe we were first noticed in the altai mountains.

IF you don’t count occupied territories. The Soviet Union had occupied essentially half of Europe, Manchuria, North Korea and northern Iran in 1945 which is larger than the Russian empire was at its height

The USSR in 1989 held the same territiories as Imperial Russia in 1904, Minus: Most of Finland and of Congress Poland, Artvin and Kars, and Port Arthur Plus: Tannu Tuva, Northern Bukowina, Carpathian Ruthenia, parts of East Prussia, the Memel Territory, and the Kuril Islands What am I missing? To me, the losses appear bigger than the gains.

Just like Ethiopia was part of UK by then, or Italy part of the USA? I guess I have to check again if they included Georgia in the map of Germany's greatest extend. IIRC german soldiers crossed into Georgia for half an hour or so in 1942.

turkish khanate is not even anywhere near modern turkey, it should have been the ottoman empire

For those people about 12:09 “Why its not Ottoman Empire?” Gök Türk (Celestial Turk) Khaganate or Turkish Khaganate is bigger than Ottoman Empire about land mass. Gök Türk Khaganate’s founders were Oghuz Turks (Same with todays Turkish, Azerbaijani and Turkmen people) That Oghuz tribe was Ashina, Asena tribe. As you can see at 12:09 its their Tamga (sign) instead of flag. Only Oghuz people use tamgas for identify themself. Nice content. As a half-Turkish i have to make some corrections. It has to be turkic or gokturk khanate not turkish. Because turkish refers to turkic people that went to persia-anatolia-balkans and largest empire that turkish people establish was ottoman empire according to this logic. However if you use turkic terminology, turkic people includes turkish,azerbaijani,uzbeks,kazakhs,kyrgyz,uyghur and many ethnicities in europe and russia, you have to write gokturks(turkic) as greatest empire not just for turkish people but also for uzbeks,kazakhs and all people i wrote because as i said gokturks was country of all of them. For example,for this video, uzbeks largest should have been turkic khanate instead of uzbek khanate because you showed gokturks as largest for turkish people. However if you divide these turkic people as turkish,azer,uzbek,kazakh etc. You have to write largest empires like ottomans ,timurids, safavids,uyghur khanate etc. for these people. In my opinion, i prefer second method for such videos because it represents more correctly successors of these empires as politically and cultural.

Göktürk Khanate (Direct control) = 13 Million Km² Ottoman (Direct control) = 5 Million Km² Ottoman Empire with vassals or patronage = 20 million km² (When the king of the Lithuanian Union of Lehistan died without leaving the heir, The Vojvoda of Eflak or Boğdan( i forgot) was put in charge of Lehistan. Thus, the Ottoman Empire indirectly placed Lehistan under its auspices. And with the conquest of the Caucasus and the conquest of the Tebriz (1590s) it ruled directly and indirectly on an area of 20 million km²)

There's a lot of approximations, I mean it's too complex to resume an empire in a video but still the fall of the Roman empire and unification of Italy are separated by 1500years, that's a bit pretentious to associate them It's just an example but that applies for tons of others empire also

You could've included all the portuguese islands like you did for every other country. they had a lot of them
