    I've taught many people to ride a motorcycle. The bigger the bike and the faster you go, the more you need to countersteer, but the term really confuses people. So I've adopted a different teaching technique. I tell them - Push left, turn left and then I have them try it. The brain is a funny thing, they don't perceive it as 'counter' cause you are associating left with left. It's subtle but it works.

    My advice when it comes to brakeing and also if you go over uneven terrain. Bend knees a little bit, dont stand straight. It gives more stability and also if you fall you can make yourself smaller quicker. Usually what i been doing on longboard when i go fast, then i prepared to "roll it off" if i fall 🤟

    The BEST scooter riding technique video. Countersteering…all single track vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles, scooters…turn best using countersteering. With bikes & scooters it is often too small to realize, but it is always there. Countersteering starts the essential lean into the turn.

    Got a Hiboy s2pro a month ago, broke both bones in my left arm 2 weeks ago today because a car thought it would be funny to brake check me and stop to laugh at me after I had to make an emergency exit from the road to a parking lot to avoid hitting them. I hit the smallest pothole ever at 19mph but at that moment I forgot to lean back and went over the bars like superman. I'm so lucky I had a bike helmet on and just broke 1 arm in 2 places as it took the entire force of the fall, not a single other scratch on me. I can't wait to get my cast off at the end of July and get back out there, hopefully one day I can afford a better scooter. The worst part about scooter injuries is walking the scooter over a mile home with multiple broken bones and then driving myself to the ER since everyone I knew was working -_- Ty so much for this video, it'll help prevent future injuries!

There are plenty of kids and even adult beginners that have to clue where to start from and this video is the only one I found to be actually helpful for them. 4:29 can I also add to please make sure your stem bearings have 0 play in them when riding like this, lots of torsion can be put onto the steering assembly during these manoeuvres. If your bearings are buggered go to your local bicycle or bearing shop and get a nice upgraded quality bearing, if your bearing races are muffed they will be able to help you out too, don’t order them from China to save a $, it’s not worth having your front end shear off.

    Hey mate, thanks for your comments! I like doing small maintenance things myself for scooters, bikes, etc. I do oil service for my car myself and so on. But not everyone likes that. I agree that these things need regular maintenance, adjustments, tightening of a few bolts and cleaning. Then they perform well for the long time. If you are into learning about riding/driving things I recommend reading/listening to "Twist Of The Wrist" book by Keith Code. There are many interesting, counter-intuitive tips :) It is focused on race bikes, but works for everything :)

    VRMinde thank you for that suggestion man, I’ll absolutely have to give it a good look! I hate doing downhill on bicycles because I never bothered analysing myself enough, now that I have the GoPro, it makes life much easier for me to learn about my mistakes :) I too repair and maintain my own hardware and vehicles! If something in this house breaks, I’ll usually fix it myself, wether it be a computer, a washing machine or even the sewing machine too 😂 I hate working with cars, parts always cost me too much and there’s just so many components that can wrong. Scooters are much more simple, much like bicycles for someone like myself. Glad to see another person who doesn’t fall for the consumerism Schtick :) Keep wrenching and having fun man!

    It’s really not much effort to at least tighten down a head + lock nut and adjust brakes every few rides, literally takes 30 seconds if you keep up your regular maintenance :) (I bet you’re sorted already, but marine grease does a great job of wearing through harsh weather and sticking around 👌)

    Hi, thanks mate. Good question, never considered this. You could try and measure the voltage on the controller pins, especially the one that goes to the dashboard or on the dashboard itself. I think dashboard is running on 5V or so, that should be similar to the USB voltage.

    Look at 5:06 or so in the video. Notice his head position. We go where we look. He is turning tight and looking where he wants to go. Turn your head! Look left & you’ll go left; look right to go right. When there are hazards like potholes…don’t look at the potholes (you’ll ride into them), look at your safe path through them. You’ll go where you look.

    Hi, That could be a video on its own mate. I enjoy filming/editing process and I try to get creative every time. Many times my wife, who is a professional photographer, helps me with making the shots. On-ride footage comes from either go pro hero 7, or the insta360 one R camera. I use “invisible” selfie stick, chest mount, sometimes mount it on the scooter. Sometimes I use like 5m long stick and mount the 360cam on it sticking out of my backpack. For the “better quality” shots, close-ups and details I am using the Nikon z6 camera. I do use a wireless mic as well... I know it does not help a lot when I write it like this. I am getting a lot of inspiration from Peter Mckinnon, Daniel Schiffer, check out their youtube channels.

    An important thing to do with any new motorized vehicle is to learn how everything feels first. This means spending time taking it to a big park, an empty parking lot and just try things out, such as braking hard, accelerating hard, corner hard etc. Learn what the scooter does at these extreme conditions and get used to how it behaves. A lot of accidents happen when people just take it out and ride in public and a dog runs in front of them or an obstacle causes them to brake hard, then they go over the top or lose control one way or another. Learn how these things feel before taking your scooter out on public roads!

Good way to find out is to stand with your both feet next to each other, close your eyes and ask someone to push you from behind. Your “natural” foot will come forwards :) or imagine/try sliding on a slippery surface or ice.

    Thank you so much for the video, I was always in the wrong position, all ahead. I did not understand the tire pressure part, for example on the m365 I have the 10 inch tire with reinforced air chamber, and 78kg weight, I currently keep them at about 3bar, I like it soft, and I do little road, what pressure do you advise me?

  • @VRMinde

    @VRMinde

    4 жыл бұрын

    Luca Cavallini hi, glad you found it useful :) There is always max recommended pressure noted by a manufacturer on the side of the tire, sometimes there is also a minimum pressure value. I normally use the maximum :) But it does make scooter more bumpy/gives more range. It is a personal choice I think. 10” tires my need less air than 8.5”. I weight almost 90 and I think my 10” is about 2.4 bars 🙄

    Great video with good advice! Did you really ride your scooter with no hands? Did you lock the handlebars in place first? I'm too scared to try this. Also, when you know you're going to crash at 35kph, what's the best way to fall?

  • @VRMinde

    @VRMinde

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks mate! I did ride it without locking the bar and without holding the handlebar and steering with my feet and body :) It is dangerous and I do not recommend doing it. Best way to fall... It is hard to say, it depends. I am doing a lot of inline skating and falling many times a day in a skatepark. With every different trick, there is a different way to fall which you find out after repeatedly falling :D On a scooter, firstly you need to try and avoid crashing into hard objects - cars, trees, rocks etc. Going over the bars while holding the handlebar is not an option either :) You can almost always jump off on your feet, but if you are going more than 20km/h you will struggle to run that fast. I would most probably try to make a roll if on the hard surface or slide if on the grass. The best idea is not to fall :) I do not like electric scooters faster than 30km/h. E-bikes are better for bigger speeds. Larger diameter wheels, better brakes, etc.

  • @VRMinde

    @VRMinde

    2 жыл бұрын

    It really depends on the scooter. Some of them are very stable due to the correct angle of the vertical steering tube vs the wheel and some are much less stable. I like your tips but I feel KERS has a function not many people get. If you were to ever crash or get off your scooter at high speeds, KERS will automatically slow the scooter down to a stop in a couple seconds, which will likely prevent it from flying off into cars, or worse, pedestrians. I have been involved in a fall which was somewhat bettered by the breaking, so I shall say I'm speaking from personal experience. I can also see it preventing accidents on a very bumpy road which requires you to hold tightly onto the handlebars, although I agree with you on only holding onto them lightly if possible.

    Empire Beats thanks for your comment mate. If there were a lot of mountains/hills around me I would probably leave it on. Here in Denmark is so flat, that it is hard to find any incline :) Regarding the bumpy road - I find it the most dangerous when I hold the handlebars with one hand. I tried letting my scooter run without holding the bars on a bumpy road - it jumps and wobbles like crazy, but the more speed you have, the more stable it actually is 🙄
