Countersink Grinding Fixture
Ойын-сауық
In this episode I make a countersink grinding fixture based on Doug Ross' design. / @dougross1956
The fixture can grind metric (90 degrees) and imperial countersinks which are 82 degrees.
Note that I did not include the process of making the cam because I 3D printed it. If anyone wants the design the STL and the CAD file can be downloaded from here:
drive.google.com/file/d/1g4R1...
I also changed my video production format. Hopefully it's more pleasant to watch.

Thank you for the file as well as this video Nice job
Thanks for showing this. I had a machinist friend try to sharpen one for me by hand and it came out worse than yours. I don't have a mill but do have a small atlas lathe and I think you have shown me what I need to make so I can salvage the old counter sink. I didn't think about the cam action when I first thought of putting it in my lathe chuck. Now I will make something similar to what you have done.

Glad to help good Sir. Gilles
My idea is to get a used DA100 collet 'extension' which is 1"OD. DA100 collets go up to 9/16 which covers 1/2" (most counter sink sizes don't exceed 1/2 inch shank). They are around used for $30, saves work and adds flexibility.
Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.

Nice. That sure looks lika a fun build.
nicely done! I don't have 3d printer, wish I knew how to machine the cam. Thanks for sharing

Its not a cam in the traditional sense. Just cut one side at an angle. Trig will give you the exact angle or the displacement you want . It varies with the diameter of your part. Rotate the angled side against a stop and, voila, you have the translation!
Nice work

@@honeycuttracing I added a link to my Google Drive in the video description for you. There you can find the STL and CAD files. Gilles
Do you need to dress the side of the wheel to get a flat face on the countersink?
@LetsRogerThat
Жыл бұрын
You could but I don’t feel the need as my countersinking requirements (so far) have not needed any precision
Nice job! I've been mulling over in the back of mind about some sort of similar adaptor for my dbit grinder. If you have the cad file would you mind sending it to me?
