What they should have done is put them both in seperate identical boxes and do identical test runs to see if the counterfeit measured up the the original....then if it did you could expose JL for over pricing their crap. Then send JL the woofer with a copy of the video of all the tests.

1 Jl audio out performs 2 12s in ur area u must live near no one cause everyone knows they are over priced plastic junk

I have these subs in 2 cars of mine. 2 13.5's inn the SUV in a 5.0 cu ft ported and 2 10's in a sealed enclosure in my car. Absolutely love them and they have great sound. Would be so furious if I ever got conned by counterfeits. But I bought from a JL Dealer so I didn't have to worry about that.

mine have a jl badge, the trim ring comes off, there's no sticker above the terminals, the tensils aren't woven but neither are the ones they show online. The boot comes off very easily though..been trying to figure out if they're real. got one from cartoys, and one from B&I.

who ever is making those fakes are in big trouble that's not funny that company is greatly known for the product and quality of music and there stuff are truly not cheap

Shedrick James You can't wire to two ohms with D4's but you can wire to one ohm and they should be gettin at least triple the power depending on the amp

Shedrick James you can wire them down to one ohm but make sure your amp is stable at one ohm bridged. And speakers don't put out wattage they take wattage, but having said that if you have a high quality amp the amp will then push around twice the power to them that it was before.

I'm not sure about the other W3 features, but not all W3s have stitched tensil leads.

Jus watched the manufacturing video for the w3v3 and I didn't see any issues, it looked exactly the same

Write Sucker on my forehead. I bought 2 of these from a retailer on AliExpress a few months back. I thought they may have been refurbished, but had no idea they were fake. I have a RF R1200 1d on them and I thought it was strange that they couldn't handle it turned halfway up. Thanks for the confirmation.

Why thank you! It's been known to drive folks mad but is pretty much my entire stock-in-trade!

And to add to my previous comment the plastic ring removes from where the mounting holes are located . The whole outside ring does not come off just the center plastic piece .

The W3V3 does not have interwoven tinsels in the spider, the terminals do not match at all to JL since on the JL version the central pin is on the interior of the hollow mount, they also have a plastic mount that goes under them and along the frame to ensure wires do not touch the frame when inserted and it carries the W3V3 badge on it "The sticker is not supposed to be there and cries out fake"! I do not see the insert-molded spider carrier, it is also missing the vented reinforcement collar, you can see that by the fact that JL engineered the VRC with Tinsel lead guides that are round! Where the tinsels go into the cone on this fake they are just glued into place! Another big difference is the diameter of the roll on the surround, it is smaller than the JL W3V3's! I have been a longtime JL Audio owner and the real thing is worth it, in fact my old W0's, I had 2, 15" and 2, 12" in a minivan that I let a Orion retailer hear and he ended up giving up his Orion lines for JL Audio shortly after! Anybody who loves JL would know the technologies they patented and developed in the mid to late 1990's which are implemented in nearly all JL models! But really glad to see you point out these exist, I have seen many of them here on youtube in videos and the people who own them are obviously unaware they are fakes! It used to be, JL Audio had a 2 year warranty that was only valid if you bought them from an authorized retailer and had them installed by that retailer "This included Power Wedges"!

The leads on the w3v3 are not woven into the spider.

Lol I just watched a sonic electronic video and the tinsel on theirs isn't woven or made in the spider and I doubt they sell fakes. I owned a set of 12 3v3s briefly and had em on a true 1500 watt amp and may they was clean sounding and sounded awesome. I can't remember if the plastic surround came off mine or not and mine were real.

I don't buy shit off of eBay anyway but this is very informative.

I need a pallet of 12s and 13.5s.

I would have like to have seen and heard them play in a box and got blown at the same time hell you can blow out any speaker playing it free air on that kind of power

For your info jl audio suspends there speaker leads on the 12w3v3-2 just like that one they actually promote that way instead of woven into the spider which jl claims degrades the spider after time????

That's why I own Focal K2p speakers, cost way too much to make counterfeits. The Zamak basket and plated engraving just isn't worth it I guess. Oh and they sound amazing, my kx27 has 600rms and it is accurate, and moves brilliantly in its sealed 1.0 cu ft box.

The surround is also very wrong. I have two real W3's and jusy by looking at them, you know theres a lot of Xmax. This fake has a small surround. damn shame.

If you watch the sonicelectronics video on the w3 the tinsel leads are the same way.

I like JL audio but they are overpriced badly. They are really good SQ Subs hands down they sound amazing. But you can get way better Subs for the price. Like Sundown and Resilient sounds and CT sounds and DD audio.. put it this way I got a JLW7 8" and a few W7 13.5"s I used em for a while and ppl love em and you don't see em often cause they cost a fortune sadly. Well I put my W7 "8 the anniversary edition it's black instead of the silver ones ppl are used to. Anyway I put it up against my Sundown SA V3 8" and the Sundown SA V3 8" absolutely destroyed the W7 8". The W7 was in its own JL box and the SA was in a box designed for it. Both on the same amp a Sundown sfb1500.1D it's a 1500 watt mono block that does roughly 1900 to 2k @ 1ohm I didn't give em full power unless I burped em. Anyway the SA was louder it hit harder and sounded much cleaner and crisp and tighter and even deeper... The JL W7 8" has a xmax of 19mm the SAv3 has 16mm xmax but the SAv3 8' can travel almost 4" it moves alot of air. And what got me is the SA 8" was only 240 bucks new the JLw7 8" was 560 US... So for twice the price you get a sub that is out performed on all levels by a sub half it's price... Plus the SA is bigger and heavier it's motor is absolutely madness it's huge and extremely strong. And the SA was the worlds loudest 8" it got a score of 153DB a single 8' on 3k wattage @1ohm.. EMF Audio has the videos of it and so does sundown youtube channels.. all you gotta do is type in worlds loudest 8" and the videos will pull up on here..

I noticed the jl sub you mentioned has a 3 ohm voice coil. The sundown on the other hand has a dual 3ohm voice coil. So wired in parallel, comes to a 1.5 ohm load approx. So maybe that's why the sundown sounds louder. Your amp is putting out more power at 1.5 ohms (approx 1400 watts) as compared to 3 ohms (approx. 900 watts).

no sub is going to sound good free air... mount it in a sealed box and the get at it.

I feel a lot of JL haters probably only hear counterfeit JL subs. I've heard authentic Wxv2-4 that sound better than authentic alpine type R's, Rockford p3's, MTX TNE212D (great subs for the price by the way).

Most JL haters don't waste our money on something we can buy 50% cheaper from another brand. Until you can show me the stats numbers and graphs proving the jl is cleaner/more accurate/all the other bullshit yall come up with then it's just that, opinions and bullshit. I can show you a spec sheet right now of a 150$ sub that gets louder than your 1000$ JL. I can prove it, on paper, with the information from the manufacturers themselves. berto371rr Look on JL's website. The W7 is around 1,000 bucks. It IS expensive, yes. But if you really care about sound quality and SQ, the W7 or any woofer from JL is the best choice

EpicEverythingDude75 If you're paying $1000 for an L7, you really need to rethink where you're getting your equipment. Secondly, L7's aren't sold in Walmart only due to the fact that JL doesn't allow it, you supposedly being a car audio enthusiast I thought you would know this. I was wrong, though, the stupidity of standing behind such a cheap company doesn't mean it holds amazing products. An L7 will not outperform the subs I own, nor would it compete in the same class. There's definitely a massive difference between our tastes in car audio, you enjoy cheap quality sound systems that cost a ridiculous amount of money, and I enjoy quality sound systems that perform greatly without being cheated out of money.

But what they left out is these low budget Asian counterfeits actually sound better than the original and took several seconds to destroy with over three thousand watts outside of any enclosure. That's why they didn't put it into an enclosure and then try to destroy it, it would've lasted a long time and produced uncannily high quality bass. I traded my 10 original JL W7s for 2 of these and they hit *much harder* "on deck power..." - lol - But seriously, I killed my REAL JL 13W7 in about 4 seconds with one Zapco 9.0. and that's the LAST JL *anything* I'll ever own.

+richisamindset01 my days of beating down the block are over.. SQ is all that matters. Audison voce 5.1k. bit 10 d. Focal 165 krs. and a single 10 W7. I checked out FI but ill only shop in stores these days. I'm happy with what I have. I listen to rock and alternative and half my music doesn't even hit so there's no point.
