yeah the cinematics are usually recorded beforehand using the demo player which isn't available yet

@@mistpx This is slightly inaccurate information. In CS:GO, all the observers use HLAE which allows for cinematic camera shots to be made using coordinates. This isn't yet in Source 2 and probably won't be at all since HLAE is really old software.

During that Valve smoke presentation video it seemed like shooting through a smoke would open a giant window through it for you to see. But as it turns out, it's like that only if you're in it. If you're far, it's just a small peek. Which works out great, th riskier ur position (inside the smoke), the greater the reward for shooting through it.

it's more about how much of the smoke you're shooting through. if you shoot through the center of the smoke from the opposite side, the hole won't be as significant, but if you're shooting through the edge or from inside, you're shooting through less smoke and the effect is more pronounced.

I like the change to how HEs and smokes interact. HEs used to feel extremely situational and it was almost always better to get a molly. Now there's an actual reason to buy HEs on a regular basis.

Helluva match. Fantastic commentary, boys. Watching this makes me want to play CS again. I'm an old cs 1.0 - 1.6 player from early high school through college (starting over 20 years ago). My memories of this game are untouched. From LAN parties to public server communities. I never got into competition, but the energy here was inspiring. This game is still the ultimate shooter.

Cs2 will be released almost on my birthday. I've been playing this game since I was a little kid against grown adults, I'm sure I won't be playing the beta (no beta key Aware) but I will for sure when the game its out in summer.

And here we go with another new cs era :)

that early inferno smoke can be countered by T's now too don't forget that. CT's can smoke banana, but so can T's. No skyboxes is a good change..game's are going to be so different and interesting in a good way.

Smokes are only one part of the problem. Utility usage is so much more key now than it was back then, from eco round nade stacks to pop flashing a lurker in or going for mid round retakes. I strongly suspect skyboxes will be necessary to balance out certain parts of certain maps, but we'll have to see how much the meta has changed things now compared to when skyboxes were first put in.

@@FShani I don't think skyboxes are a good idea, it's the wrong solution for the problem. They introduce unexpected behavior, and weird lineups like the mollies on inferno. If certain cross-map smokes are seen as too problematic, I think it makes more sense to fix them by adding new out-of-map walls/buildings to prevent those smokes from being thrown. Inferno in particular has a bunch of 'dead space' between A/CT & banana/B site, so they could easily just add shit on top of there if they wanted/needed to stop smokes from going over. The one thing skyboxes still make sense for are preventing OP boosts like overpass A site olof boosts. But I still think it would be better to prevent these with actual visible geometry rather than arbirtary skyboxes.

It would take quite some time for the pros and the players to fully adapt to the cs2, it would be nice if we could see more showmatch on cs2 to give time for the player base to get use to cs2 before seeing more proper matches on it

the only thing they did wrong with the smoke is that the grenade disappears after throwing it, but if you nade you smoke disappears and comes back... but from what? they should let the smoke grenade stay on the ground until the smoke totally fades that way the smoke doesnt appear from nothing after nading it
