I wasn't as big of a fan of the TV series as the radio series, but this was a particularly funny episode! The Count at his finest!

I had the chance to meet Arthur Strong at the Spar in Bridlington. So funny. I loved every moment of it. I do love the tv series. Such a shame they didnt continue with another series. Not sure how they couldn't keep it going. It's a classic.

The BBC’s treatment of the show was disgraceful.....moving it to a prime time slot, then changing the nights it was shown....I recorded the last episode, only to discover the Wimbledon final had overrun and they switched it to BBC Two, instead of showing it at a later date......a wasted classic

@@illaveyoubutler3588 @illaveyoubutler3 Yeah I agree. I wish someone could pick it up and continue it on amazon prime. Amazon should buy it or something. This show was amazing. Best thing bbc had since classics like vicar of Dibley.

How WONDERFUL that must’ve been for you!! Was the Spar a new enterprise? Or, or, or, or... was it an old store that had been superlatively refurbished, the reopening of which would require a star of stage and screen of the most superlative ability and celebrity? Either way, how amazingly considerate of Count Strong to put himself forward for such a task, in order that the more humble of his legions of fans might get the chance to hobnob with superstars. And he wouldn’t dream of demanding a fee for the occasion... just his expenses covered, of course, and a twenty-minute trolley dash.

I was already laughing at the montage & nearly choked on a slice of steak when the Phantom of the Opera came on. (It could've been offal, I suspose, but you can't get heart at the butchers (or the supermarket) any more). I really do ...

It needs a vaudeville renaissance ! For example ; a reel of old film found at a car boot sale at Frinton on sea, turns out to seemingly show a 1920's black and white film made in USA. It is a vaudeville entertainment matinee, set on Coney Island. However, its headline act is a solo comedian/raconteur called 'Chip Vivant' , who coincidentally shares a similar set content to that of good old Athurs' ......hmmm !! Arthur's American Idol perhaps ? Could make a refreshing storyline ??? Just needs fresh imagination !

@@JimMorrisonLoL Exactly, thank you ! Harold Lloyd with 'Herclues the parrot's 'tosh. A modern reinactment of the 'clock' scene, that Arthur was physically unable to perform (due to gout complications and a phobia of numerals - 'the memory act' !) ; could be done with a stunt double, with 'Spandau Barry' holding the ladder ! "HaHa !"

BBC commissioning editors are mostly idiots, bowing to the latest fad and 'woke' sentiments rather than supporting, surely, the finest comic genius for decades. Arthur's supporting cast are fabulous, every one a gem of characterisation. Shame on the BBC.
