Reason there's increase in tourism in lodwar is the upgrading of the road A1, the once sleepy town centers are thriving coz of trade like before when the roads were pathetic these towns, lokichar, kainuk, lokitaung were all marginalized, lodwar has great potential for tourism and business once the nakadok border post with Sudan is built the potential of tourism and trade will be tapped

Hope South Sudan also tarmac their side to Juba but I believe they will with the Kenyan side finishing. One day that border post will be as big as the one in Moyale

Great video! Great series! Keep up the good work. Lots of memories of Lodwar. I have been there at least 10 times back in late 80s early 90s. Yes it always took me 3 days to get to nariakotome for missionary work. Yes we stayed at turkwel lodge back then just outside lodwar on the lake. Back then KCB bank, post office, airstrip, Mombasa hotel ( run by a guy from the coast) and a great stay at bishop Mahon place. Great Irish man. He was always great to receive us. 9 hours ride from kitale to Lodwar. The main road was tarmacked but all of Lodwar town was dusty roads. Very few cars in those days. Part of Kakuma road was tarmac back then.

Came to Lodwar 1983. The Norwegians paved the road between Kitale to Kalokol, finished around 1985. Got spoiled. Waste of money. Norwegians built a fish factory Kalokol in early 1980. Failed. Italians tried fish farming. Failed. We tried tree planting. Difficult indeed. Traditionel Turkanas lovely, stern. The climate knocks you out.

Beautiful Turkana. People underrate it me included as its arid, hot and dry, unforgiving climatic conditions and miles far away from other towns . Peace my sister! While I love watching many of your videos and most of the content in them! This particular video showing you'll hugging a statue of some christ like figure!, has Idolatry written all over it! Whenever I see pictures/videos such as this where people are out right dealing with Idols made of stone or wood.I feel a spiritual need to help bring to light the importance of not giving into such practices of Idolatry! Videos such as this teach our younger generations coming up, that it is okay to do such practices. It simply breaks my heart to see such things! Scripture tells us clearly not to hold up in esteem any god of wood or stone! The damage around the world that has been done, due the worship of such Idolatry is simply heartbreaking to say the least! Exodus 20:4.Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Isaiah 43:11 11. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no savior. Our creator here just told us in this verse that HE alone is our savior and redeemer...And that there is No savior beside him! The word I is referring to one being...Who is the creator of all things! I don't blame people for their lack of knowledge of scripture. But please get proper understanding of the creator, that he is completely different from any of his creation! Peace and love!
