People shit on Fashionistas a lot but they truly have some beautiful base dolls. I love the obvious diversity in skin tone, size, shape, etc but also the subtle differences like the nuances in nose, chin, etc sculpts. I would’ve liked Barbie a lot better if she were this diverse when I were a kid!

The purple neckline material on Fashionistas #207 is a 2x2 rib! I was shocked to see it since Mattel has only been finishing things with the overlocked hems or raw edges for SO long, looks like they are finally investing the budget into different finishes again!

I found this quite informative. I might purchase a couple. I like the Shani because she reminds me of Totally Hair Teresa. It would be nice for the play line dolls to have some articulation again. I'd be happy with the elbow and knee joints that the Cutie Reveal line have.

If only they released a new wave with the same diversity but the style and aesthetic of the original waves...

All the new Fashionistas are so amazing. Unfortunately, I really miss the zipper packaging even though I like the artwork of the dolls.

The doll with the "Greek" face sculpt looks South Asian to me and I love that about her. There aren't many South Asian fashion dolls on the mainstream market. I love the new petite curvy body type. I hope they make a tall curvy as well.

I kept thinking I was hearing you wrong when you said "no pixelation" and "saran hair". I'm happy to see an improvement, and it will get me buying some Fashionistas again. The Shani mold is my favourite in the group, but I also like the Down Syndrome doll, the Greek mold, and the prosthetic Ken.

I also have Down Syndrome Barbie, and she's the main character in my Barbie & Friends series. She's great.

Im hoping they bring back the so in style face sculpts too

#206 is so pretty, I have her in my Amazon wish list. I finally received my #208 and love her so much. I named her Hope. When I was a kid, my school took us on a field trip to a handicapped school, and it was the first time I was exposed to Down syndrome kids. The school taught them a trade, and I thought it was neat, and since then, every time I see someone with Down syndrome, I always engage and talk with them . They are so sweet and friendly. They retain that child like innocence that adults sometimes lose as they grow up. Loved the video and reviews on dolls.

aww i love them!! if i could i would buy them 🥺 the open mouth kens are adorable, so good to have this variant! 206 and 207 are on my list they look lovely. i really do wish we got more articulation for them. 207 looks south asian and makes her more beautiful to me

Also for anyone wondering Barbie fashionista #206 can use the wheelchair mtm body( I used #165). It basically is the same skin tone. It might be slightly more tan I still can’t tell honestly. It looks the same after you add freckles. From what I’ve been told any Millie mtm original bodies will work. The volleyball mtm barbie is a perfect match skin tone wise, but it’s a tall body. Again, I think they may be the same color, but they do work very well for the Shani doll or #206.

If you need zipper bags like the ones fashionistas used to come in, head to your local dollar tree. They have something similar.

I love the Shani too. It's nostalgic. I have the Soul Train Shani's.

I’m dying to find 210 in stores. I think she’s gorgeous and I wish a collector would take down her hairs so we can see.

Ps Fashionista #210 has the prettiest clothes (in my opinion). She is too cute. I like her hair also.

I recently returned to barbie doll collecting, and I'm glad to have Down Syndrome Barbie in my collection after putting off buying her.

The leg braces on the barbie with Down Syndrome are called AFOs.

I actually only bought the Millie. She had awesome shoes. Might purchase that second ken you talked about…. He is cute….

So Carlyle’s influence is behind these more interesting dolls…Thanks for the info you bring on these sculpts. Every single one you talked about peaked my interest except the smiling blonde Ken. He’s too bland. You are so right about this wave. Why oh why can’t we have more articulation? And what’s up with those ridiculous straight limbs? No human I know walks like that.

I don't know why you say your dolls have "wonk eye." They looked perfect to me. I just got the new smiling tanned Ken. He is a cutie.

The only one I might be interested in s the "greek sculpt" one. Not gonna lie I thought the freckles on the first one were dirt. oops.

What I notice about this wave is that there is a significant number of dolls representing Indian ethnicities.

I want to get the Down Syndrome and Shani face ones. I want to make the Shani one's hair have even more crimps. I just bought Looks doll 10. I like Intergrity Toys dark skin dolls but don't want to pay over $100. She's a much cheaper alternative. Also got Tamika from the Looks line. My first petite I got her mainly because I have all these extra Rainbow High clothes.

I think ken 212 has one eyebrow upper than the other eyebrow. but he is very cute.

I'm not going to lie, the zipper was amazing, but when I worked at a toy store, they would always fall since we did not hang them on the walls, they were terrible to put on shelfs, and I think it has to do with it.
