As the contract for gas transit between Ukraine and Russia ends in 2024, there will be no agreement as announced by Ukrainian authorities. It's not for the whole of the EU, only a couple of small countries, like Hungary and Slovakia. Most other countries have already other means and are switching away from gas as much a possible. Hungary and Slovakia however have been staying stubborn and didn't do anything, while this was long ago already announced to happen. It's probably the real reason why Orbán went to Moscow, when he realised after his talk with Zelenskyy that his country would be tuning off and staying cold in the winter months. I happen to have posted this already when I first heard of Orbán's visit to Moscow and now this turns up.....

Yes, the treaty concerning pipelines through Ukraine to Hungary is soon to expire. Hungary relies of Ukrainians being cooperative. Orban is in a bad situation.
