Could Alex Murdaugh’s Surviving Son Buster Be Alleged Second Shooter?

Ойын-сауық

As disgraced lawyer Alex Murdaugh’s family murder trial enters day four, the accused killer’s attorney theorized there could be two shooters responsible for the murders of Maggie and Paul. The two guns, two shooters theory has created the question of whether Murdaugh’s surviving son Buster was investigated as a potential accomplice to the crimes his dad is accused of. Former FBI agent Tracy Walder gives her take.

There isn't a second shooter. Alex shot Paul in the head with the shotgun and knew he was dead because it blew his head off. I think Maggie ran towards the sound of the gunshot because she was worried about her family and wanted to make sure they were alright. Alex switched to the loaded rifle and shot her repeatedly to make sure she was dead too. He's a lawyer. He knew using 2 different guns would create a "second shooter" theory. I think it was planned which explains why Alex told Maggie to meet him out there that night in the first place. Why would he talk her into meeting him out there and then go take a nap and visit his mom instead?

Premeditated. Alex lured Maggie to the property. Very possible (even probable) that he set up 2 long guns near the kennel. Maybe one in the vehicle? He's tried criminal cases in the past. He's a savvy lawyer. He knows what questions will be asked. He had canned responses, at least in terms of his "linked to the boat crash" responses. from the last know communication on Pauls/Maggies phones, to the time first responders arrived, there was ample time to clean up and get rid of bloody clothes and guns. He could have driven for an hour to dispose of items.

None of what you said makes sense with the evidence in rhe trial. He couldn't even plan his own killing without notching it up, but you think he's gonna kill his son who he loved dearly with a shotgun under the chin while standing six inches away from him and covering himself in the boys blood, bits of skull fragments, small pieces of brain matter, teeth, pieces of eyeball... Have you ever seen what a shotgun under the chin will do? I have, up close, more than once. You have to hate the person you're doing that to because you're basking in the fountain of biological material that's gonna rain down on you whe you pull that trigger. Murdaugh couldn't have done that and held it together. And don't we have people in that community that actually had a reason to want Paul to suffer while he died? To want to enjoy the fact that they're taking everything away from Alec and getting revenge for the dead girl all at the same time?

Two guns could have been away to give the idea that this was done by more than one person! It could have just as easily been one person. Alec going home to get a gun, could have given him opportunity to do a lot of different things. I find it hard to believe that he would not already have a pistol in his car as so many people do. My opinion here: Everyone knows Buster wasn’t the second shooter. However, law enforcement know that Alex likely concocted this to make it seem like it must’ve been two shooters, pulling the blame away from himself. He just didn’t antipasto the cops to turn it around, and use it to inflict pressure on him. Now, they have thorn in that plan. Buster. They’re going to put pressure on Alex to confess or give up information, as he tries to clear Buster’s name, knowing Buster is innocent and he himself just used two weapons to try and create a narrative for law enforcement and first responders.

2 guns is easy for big men, Alex is highly experienced with shotguns & AR's. He is also an expert lawyer in prosecution & defense, so he knew that using 2 guns would help him throw off the case. The family was shot at close range, no defense marks, showing they knew the shooter. This is a local case for me & I was an investigator in Walterboro back in 2001/2002. The sheriffs there are amateurs with this stuff since they mostly deal with drugs & gangs moving drugs on I-95. I pray that he is convicted and the millions are found and turned over to his many victims.

He used 2 guns on purpose as a throw off he’s not the first person to do that Also the heinous nature of the murders If Alec did it I would have expected he shoot them in the back of the head from behind at a distance making their killings as humane as possible but according to the defence opening Paul was shot in the shoulder then the second was from under his chin causing his brain to hit the roof and land at his feet Then Maggie I believe probably first heard the shots possibly even saw blood maybe saw Paul’s brain on the ground next to his body regardless of how she was alerted she knew there was imminent danger and was shot as she was running away And It makes sense to kill Paul first as I’m sure Maggie wasn’t in the best shape to be running for her life so the biggest threat ie; Paul was killed first then Maggie second I have a theory why Alec did the killings this way I believe the reason he didn’t do it from a distance in the back of the head to make their deaths as humane as possible is simply because he had to make it look like a random stranger with no emotional attachments to the victims committed this crime Also making it very hard for anyone to believe a father and husband could do something so abhorrent to his life partner mother of his children and then of course to his own son I can say it has crossed my mind that no he couldn’t have done it I can’t see him doing that Also in the initial 911 call he mentioned that he spent a good 2 hours that day with Paul and there is a snap chat video of them laughing and having fun But why make such random unsolicited statements? The only reason I can think of would be to distance himself from the murders Also didn’t Maggie sms a friend that night just prior to going out to the kennels that night saying something to the effect of “He’s up to something” And I wonder if the recipient of that sms will testify about it and about what really went on behind closed doors in the Murdaugh marriage Defence during opening said their marriage was great neither of them had affairs no history of domestic violence no evidence of seeking divorce attorneys ect But that sms “He’s up to something” means to me Maggie was suspicious of Alec about something I really hope something comes of that

Very good analysis. Marriage was in poor shape. Maggie had been living in their holiday home (?) some two hours away for some time and had been REFUSING to sign papers to sell it (so that A could pay his de t). That had become crucial that tragic day as his partners had confronted him abt his financial shenanigans. Playing on her love for his sick father, Maggie insisted that no, she would not be going to the house she would meet him at the hospital where his sick father was - but A insisted, so she told/texted a friend that something was afoot and that A was acting "fishy". Still she went to the house. She should have trusted her instincts.

If I was the killer and it was premeditated I would have already placed 2 weapons at the kennels ahead of time. I would have asked Maggie to retrieve something from my vehicle parked outside and when she got to the vehicle I would kill Paul first. I wouldn't have time to reload and I would assume that my adrenaline would be pumping and I would be shaking because at this point I have never killed a person before so I would imagine it to be intense emotionally. I would then grab second gun to kill Maggie as she reentered the kennels. It would save time and I would have less to think about with a second gun.. If there was a second killer it would most likely be the cousin or someone within his drug world that he would have to pay but the way all his financial records for years back are being scrutinized I think that he would have left a money trail. So unless it's the cousin he did it alone. He did a lot of dirty dealings with many people but I don't think any one person knew the full extent of what was happening in his life. I believe he carried his self imposed burdens alone. They were murdered the day before he had to turn over his financial records and he needed Maggie to sign over her property. Which she wasn't going to do. Paul was clearly guilty of the death of Mallory so that trial and the settlements would have probably cost Alex millions that he didn't have. His financial mayhem would have come to light. I'm sure he was terrified and scared of the choice that he made to kill them and I believe that's why he put it off til the very last moment. It doesn't take a judge or jury to see what happened here. It couldn't be more obvious and we still haven't heard everything yet. I think that there is far more about this monster that outside of his circle of evil nobody will ever know. Or depending on how high up the evil exists we may never be told. I don't believe for one second that he squandered millions and millions of dollars on a drug habit. That's ludicrous. I hope that higher authorities outside of his state continue to follow the money. Aside from the millions that he stole he already had millions and was an active attorney making money. When did the money start to disappear? What was going on in his life at the time? Who was he spending his time with and doing regular business with? I wanna know. I think that he is involved in something else. I know that I went on forever here but this guy sparks many questions unlike others. This case bothers me..To many prominent people criminally involved.. Blessings light and love to all 🤍🤍🤍

Coz Alex’s instructing his mother’s carer to take note that he had stayed 30-40min in her mother’s house instead of 15-20min only & their cleaner, to remember that hes wearing something else instead of what she had seen him wearing, were both telling that he wanted them to support his allibi.

I was trying to follow the defense questions and state-witness answers about the distance between from where Paul was shot and where the wife was shot--and apparently the shots at the wife came from higher ground. Has anyone got a handle on all that? That whole bit was so convoluted and stop-and-start with lots of pauses and paper shuffling, less than sharp questions and vague answers about the angle of the shots that hit the wife that it was nearly impossible to follow clearly. A lot of this case is so choppy and slow and dense that I would not want to be on the jury. Clearly all the information about the same types of weapons and ammo as was used in the murders being on the property is relevant--but the defense can and will counter that they are common weapons and the prosecution does not have the actual murder weapons.
