More than 70 years since the first successful organ transplant, a team of scientists in Gothenburg are using ‘3D bioprinting’ to replicate human organs.
Cellink have already used their technology as part of cancer treatments, to make liver models for drug screening campaigns and are helping beauty brands become animal cruelty free.
Researchers are now hoping to use bioprinted cartilage in patients with muscle issues.
There is hope that this technology could eventually help to generate organs for those needing transplants.

My friend had a heart transplant and I'm hoping that this technology could prevent organ rejection. If that happens, there is no need for immune suppressants

Developing such technologies is extremely expensive. Demand from rich allows to cover the costs. When costs are covered, each new copy is chipper. Until it reaches mass production and hundred of millions can afford new treatment. That is the power of entrepreneurial capitalism. And there is no better way to develop and implement new technologies so far. Communists and socialists are good at fair distribution of limited resources. But they are incapable of developing anything new.

its going to happen faster than that. As ai advances these techs will advance faster than expected. The market for healthy new cloned organs is probably the most lucrative one possible.
Hopefully this succeeds, it will help in stopping all those illegal organ harvesting.

They should grow then in space as the ink is not under stress from gravity , this would allow the cells to grow freely .

Honestly, I can see whole new bodies eventually created piece by piece through this once they perfect and expedite the process. Will be an interesting time period.

It's been at least 15 year that I've heard about organs scaffolding, stem cells, extracellular matrix, ecc... We should have organs ready by now. Where are they?

3d kidney is close to impossible cos the real kidney has millions of veins which separates all the levels of protein as per body requirements! If they did it its a wonder! All the best!

This is old news, before BBC came out with this, NBC announced this in 2019. At the time Israel was leading the project of organ printing, and the first to print a 3D heart.
Organ donation should be opt out instead of opt in. That would solve a lot of issues while we wait for technology to catch up.

Who ever make this work will help a lot of people and become the richest person on this 🌎 and it is a slow-moving process, but it isn't impossible 🤔
Human memory is short and civilization is fragile. If we do manage not to blow ourselves up, then yes, within a few hundred years there will be organs and limbs made to deliver and babies born in artificial wombs. Cellink worked with hair follicles as far back as in 2017 without any results, and they are still stuck in the same spot. Even though it is a relatively simple biological structure, they have nothing to show. Spend two minutes listening to this CSO, and any cell biologist would immediately recognize how shallow her competence and capability is, and how immature the technology is.
