There was a bow hunter doing exactly what you described above Glenwood Springs , calling to a herd of elf that he was watching , after calling he was sitting watching in the direction of the elk and he hears a small branch behind him snap . As he turned to look he was hit in the chest by 2 lions , they rolled , separated then the lions ran off towards the herd . He was camo'd out and had put cow elk piss on him to cover his scent .

When the cat freezes, it thinks you can not see him. As soon as you move your head, they will move to a new position. As soon as they feel they have been spotted, yep games over. Hopefully.

@@WFshorts It’s interesting to read your comment. Did you have personal encounters with cougars? I had two cat encounters. Once as a very young kid about 1950 in California. My dad had parked the convertible next to a cliff. He went off hunting for a cougar. In the mean time, the cat showed up on the cliff top. Just looking down at us. I know my mother was a bit scared. It wasn’t making the growling sound you see in the old movies so we’re safe. I remember my father being pissed after his return. Another time one came into a cabin we were staying in while sleeping. We had been cooking and the door was not very secure. My brother and I were not in the same room as my parents. Fortunately he left without me.

Mhm, somehow these animals are aware humans can help them. Just seeing if he could get a free meal potentially or perhaps curious. I know several people who raised kids with cougars as a pet.

that cat has every right to be there, and those Elk are its food, so if I were the hunter, I'd make sure to bag an Elk, and leave an offering behind for it, to make things fair.

​@@daskook2656You might want to double check that figure. Cougars have about a 25% success rate and that drops even lower when they hunt elk. None of the big cats but the cheetah get anywhere near 50%.

This full video shows the elk hunter Having to fire two shots towards the cat. Thankfully and miraculously the cat avoided both shots And then wandered away after.

The cougar made the same little mouth movement my cat makes when my cat is watching me cook lol

Make sure when cougars are around to protect your neck at all times.

You are either a prey or predator.. every animal knows this. They can tell by vibes, instinct and body language. By that guy's reserved and confident body language, it was communicated to the cougar that he'd be too much of a trouble and risky to mess with.

It wasn't aggressive at all. You can tell the hunter was able to sense that. Curious at best. Most likely didn't see him until they were right on eachother. That's honestly one of the most chill cougars

I had a Colorado cougar ~ Jake was bought for $500 from a "lady" by a Navy SEAL. He broke his femur riding in a pickup truck at 6wks old. I was a Tech, working in a Veterinary Hospital. Jake imprinted on me, we bought land in a legal state & began building his enclosure to specs. The government stole him from us! He should have never been taken from the wild!!! I'm thankful for every single minute with Jake! Leave wildlife in the wild!!!

He was probably confused seeing this man just sitting in the woods alone

I've had this experience before. It's not as fun when you are actually close to it. You realize very quickly you can't win that fight. My experience was in Trinidad, Colorado in 2017.

Yep. For years my plan was to fight one off if I had an encounter. Then I finally saw a couple of them in the wild and I’ll admit my plan was wishful thinking. Now I always carry a pistol.

Cougar was like, "You got me. I'm all out of Paper."

Im from Nebraska and we have had lions in the Omaha metro, one was killed behind a school and was stuffed and is now in the lobby of the school, ranchers have found deer carcasses on top of huge hay bails, in a tree in someones backyard in city limits in Kearney NE.. wild. This happened to me while night riding my mountain bike in WA state. The cougar was stalking me and my buddy by our bike lights. We kept hearing noises we weren't making and felt odd as if we were being stalked. Ultimately, it left us alone when we circled the wagons and raised the bikes above our heads while yelling at the big cat. Hadn't done a night ride since, almost 20 years later.

Cougar: “Elk would have been good but you’ll do.”
