I thought denim was developed in America for a less inexpensive clothing because the imported fabrics were too expensive???

I miss the great money I made ginning cotton during my ginning seasons between 1978 - 1994. My best year was in 1981 when we ginned 17 hours a day for about 7 to 8 straight weeks. On a good day; we were able to gin 10 bales an hour in the antique 1948 Murray Gin. I made $499.99 for 7 straight weeks. It was so aggravating needing just one more penny to get to say I made $500 a week paychecks. They brought us dinner & supper from a local cafe during those long hard days. This was at the Hollywood Gin in Hollywood, MO that was about 4 miles east of Arbyrd MO. This is where I learned to become an Assistant Ginner.

Cotton growing and ginning has change. Our area gins can start October and end April first. It goes 24 hrs 7 days a week. Adobe Walls gin has ginned 300,000 bales in a season. A bale every 30 seconds. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZmMmqutm62qadI.html

@@robertreznik9330 Cotton is about dead here in the MO Bootheel. The countryside here used to look like snow every Fall. Last year I drove around & just about all the farmers were raising soybeans and/or rice. It was heartbreaking.

@@SteveHolsten now Mizzou had more rice than many Southern states though. Can't think of that then. I was in northwest MO in 80s.

Cotton is also grown in Kentucky and Tennessee.

I noticed that, too! Being from South Carolina and Georgia, where I grew up around cotton fields, and teach about the history of cotton in my job, that was disappointing. The cotton gin was invented near Savannah where I live, and I used to live in Hartsville S.C., where Coker Pedigreed Seed was started and based. The host, Rob Stewart, is also from my hometown near there in S.C., so he should’ve pointed that out to the producers. Also, Charleston and Savannah were major cotton ports, etc., etc.

You are aware they are talking about irrigation farming and the overuse of pestizides? And noone wants to end farming lol we just want farming to be nature friendlier - and for that the left is ready to financially assist farmers who apply modern biological farming methods - no restrictions just more opportunitys and actually a safety net for farmers all over the country - but of course its evil because the left suggested it and because it changes farming...but it changes farmers financiall situation for the better, preserves our planet and gives farmers an opportunity to farm like there grandparents again (of course still wih modern machinery but more true to nature) but yes lets just ignore all the positive changes eco friendly agriculture brings...

I just want to know, where the F do the cotton seeds come from? It seems they are taking them and squeezing them for oil, OK, and other things like cow feed. But where are the seeds coming from to grow the next generation? What am I missing?

Cotton makes way more seeds than you need to replant it. A single plant comes from one seed but can make dozens or a few hundred seeds. You end up with a huge excess of seed.

Well, most plants. Produce an excess of seeds. The purpose being to have an excess of possible offspring. Like… how in any(Vulgar warning) humans, there is an excess of sperm even thou only 1-3 eggs will actually be fertilized
