    I dont know your name.... But I want to tell you,,,,, and words will not be able to describe how much I appreciate that you take the time to put these videos out.. I have been playing guitar since 1983.. I can imitate all the greats. Angus Young, Jimmy Hendrix, Neil Schon, EVH, and my all time favorite is Randy Rhoads... When I grew up learning how to play, we didnt have computers. we learned from books, magazines, watching people and wearing out records and cassette tapes picking things out by ear.. The thing in my area was the more songs you knew, the better people thought you were... So I learned songs to play in the local pubs.. But when it came time to improvise my own leads,, I never knew how.. I dont read music, and tabs only show you so much..... Ive tried to learn modes,, but they are soooo confusing to me... So I literally tried making an effort to learn music theory thinking that would help and during this process I came across learning intervals.... Then,, like it was a sign from God, as it was meant to be,,, one of your videos popped up in my youtube feed,, and with the way you put the scale, then all the intervals on the screen,,,,, You have literally changed the way I play.... You have opened my eyes and I have been practicing more now and literally loving the sounds I get from your videos.. Oh I just cannot tell you enough how much I appreciate what you do.. I am poor but if I had money I would send you what I could because you deserve to be making millions for your talent. Unfortunately all I can do is tell you with the deepest gratitude,, thank you and God bless you.

    I think so too. I don't think D Ionian is the best choice here? The relative B minor Aeolian sounds much better and is much easier to articulate IMHO.

    I want to know, what's the theory behind choosing D ionian scale for this. If I was asked which scale to play on a song that starts on G, I would've said G ionian... Doesn't sound that good. Let me know!

  • @calvin3682

    @calvin3682

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@PlayYouFools The song is in the key of D Major, therefore the best scale for it would be D Ionian(Major), which has D, E, F♯, G, A, B, and C♯. G Ionian wouldn't work as well because it has the notes G, A, B, C, D, E, and F♯ instead. Just because the song starts on G, it doesn't mean that the song is in G major. G is actually the IV in the key of D, meaning it is the 4th note is D Major.
