You are always so busy, Everette is a little diamond! Did you know that Ukrainians celebrate Christmas on the 6th January? We have a mother and daughter family staying with my bbf . They are delightful and it is so worrying when you hear what their families and friends have been through.

I wish they had a Costco in Eagle river….when my elder was in Fairbanks they shopped at that one most every Pday. I hope you enjoy your vacation so wonderful your family was able to go. Thanks for feeding my Elder he loved the moose spaghetti. He said your family was so fun and very nice. I was able to order a few things from Walmart in Eagle River for my son to pick up this last week so cool to be able to do that when I actually live in California. Keep the videos coming

You Americans should worry about the civilians in the countries USA army destroyed first. Then worry about Ukrainians. No one worried about Irak, Afghanistan or Yemen kids that where raped by some USA solideirs and which homes where destroyed, but everyone worries about Ukraine all of a sudden. Because that is what your government is feeding you with.

@@dominicgermanotta4771 your comment is more tasteless lady. I bet you can't even pin point Ukraine on a blind map , but you are so worried about them because that's what you where feed with. But you had no problem when USA army killed innocent civilians because they supposedly made mistake with miss placed rackets in those countries I recalled above. You had no problem when those people houses where shredded to pieces, you had no problem when your government took those countries federal money reserve and shoved it their pockets, you had no problems when USA army soldiers raped children in those countries then killed them. When the pandemic hit we realized how unprepared we were. Our problem was how & where to store surplus supplies. We live in a small senior apartment. We really had to think outside the box. I have 5 gallon buckets of dry food in my closet. Additional storage under the bed. Not very glamorous but we have peace of mind that if we have snow, sickness, or shortages we'll be okay. Since I can't see my supplies, like you can, I've made a list and check off what we use so I know what to replace.

@Dianne Welt my daughter lives in a small house w 2 bda & we saw a video on diff storage ideas on KZread actually..a really good one we found for Paper Towels & Toilet Paper was awesome..Basically you take 2 over the door hooks 🪝 and space them out by placing them on top of the door and then placing 2 on the bottom of the door..now u will need 2 bungy cords for this as well..esp for the bottom hooks to stay attached..but you place the bungy cord from one end of the hook to the other and put your Paper towels behind it and then you'll be able to place your TP at the top bc you'll have a shelf of sorts from the Paper Towels..so many neat ideas. And if you get a paper towel holder that hooks onto a cabinet if you turn it and put on the inside of a cabinet, you can add either S hooks or binder clips and hang cleaning products or utensils w the binder clips etc..so many different ways with KZread.

I had an understanding that it was cheaper to live there not more expensive. But I see how much money you spend every time you go to the store I could not afford to live there. This is wonderful what you guys did for the Ukrainian family...we actually were given a home to sell from my husband's Uncle...we gave everything in it to different ppl who were just starting out..many either Single parents..or some ppl that were part of Recovery Organizations where they had sought Drug/Alcohol treatment and are now employed & are starting off on their own or w others in a Sober Living Home...and I had an overwhelming feeling to help a few families w Thanksgiving Dinners....so my daughter who lives in Montana actually told me about a Mom whom she babysits for while the Mom works.....My daughter knew she's been having a tough time financially, so she told her to just pay in January for her payment (and even then she Normally charges a set amount, but discounted hers $15 cheaper a day.)...after hearing all this I tell my Daughter and SIL that we should get some Groceries for a Thanksgiving Meal and a few other Meals as well. Not only did we provide her with the Essentials for Thanksgiving..but many many other meals..w drinks for them..and household/personal things that normally ppl don't get such as Toilet Paper..Paper Towels...Deodorant, Body Wash, Dish Soap & Laundry Detergent etc....we are presenting this to the Mom on Monday...I live in Delaware so my daughter will be videotaping it. I can't wait to see her reaction....my daughter said Mom we were suppose to split the cost, not you pay for everything..I said Honey just by you allowing her NOT to pay for Daycare for 2 mos is huge enough...so my daughter just bought her a few more meal Essentials and decided instead of wasting stuff my Grandson won't eat (bc he's a picky 4 yr old) she is going to donate some really good things as well....I think EVERYONE should do a good deed for someone if they can. It makes the world a better place.

I used to keep overflow canned food on shelves in my garage and that was great for years. But a few years ago, mice got into my garage and made a terrible mess and it felt really bad to eat the food even after scrubbing the cans. I still have some things out there, but I don't put food there anymore if I can help it.

I joined the church when I was 19. I have always had food storage since I got married. I remember my mom saying it was a good idea but not necessary in this day and age (the mid 80's) because she couldn't see something that bad happening "in this day and age". Sorry to say that we've proved that thought wrong several times. Our food storage has gotten us through job loss, weather and covid-shortages. Do you ever have issues with mice getting into things? Thanks for the tears at the beginning of the video. Enjoy your vacation.

In my apartment, we have a built in pantry closet. Initially it only had two shelves, one upper one lower, and a large walking space. We took a metal shelving unit put that in there, fit two small book shelves for more shelving, and added an overhead floating shelf above the walkspace. The bookshelves hold sauces, mayo, ketchup, soy, etc, and dry baking goods. The floating shelf holds extra ziploc bags, and costco size paper towels. So nothing that would hurt if it were to fall on you, and nothing weighty. Metal shelving unit holds cans, jars, the heavy stuff. Jars and glass on the bottom. So spaghetti, salsa jars etc. Then prepackaged backing, rice, scalloped potatoes, stuff like that. Then a rotational canned food holder (three of them). Two hold 36 cans each, the other 24. It's only my husband and myself. We have a standing freezer as well, that's packed with everything from beef, chicken, butter, mozz sticks, and keto ice cream. Most of our food is in the pantry, and very little in the kitchen cabinets. My extended family is lower income than myself. So I help supplement them whenever they ask. I buy on sale, or at costco on sale. Buy only what we and they will eat, so it doesn't go bad. Also expiration dates on packages are fake. They're created by the manufacturer as a way to entice people to purchase more of their product. Except dairy. That's legit. xD

It begins in a small circle but grows and grows until it covers our world. Start at home. Sharing your story is wonderful it inspires more to as I said start at home. I love your channel. I was really touched by your help for new people in your community. People that had lost everything and are probably traumatized and overwhelmed. I had recently watched a video about the rules of country living and I was left feeling like country people were very unwelcoming and judgemental and not at all willing to help their neighbors, especially if they were new. I don't know why but it really stuck with me. I don't know if you would consider yourself "country people" but I'm glad to learn that it was perhaps just in that community and not a universal sentiment. I say this as an atheist, the refugees were blessed to wind up in your community.

Hello Hamm Family ❤️ It's a bright, sunshiny 37°F Autumn day. Leaves are doing their final dance in the chilly breeze. Birds are singing, except the geese... they are flying to warmer temps. The deer are out. Life is good. Speaking of food storage, I'm sipping tea and organizing spices as I watch this video... a job leftover from yesterday. Time to do a head count in the spice department. Love seeing you buying, sorting and organizing your food storage. Mark and I are of the mindset: "pray for best, prepare for the worst". He tends to the outdoor pantry and I tend to the indoor pantry... but, we both have access to the other and we check the statuses every month prior to our monthly grocery haul... mini perishable trips as needed... includes the freezers, fridge and the generator. We've been through rough periods so being prepared is a must: power outages, hurricanes, blizzards, ice storms, "pandemic", etc. Plus, we both have backgrounds in health and safety: Nurse, Firefighter-EMT, Law Enforcement, etc. We are too familiar with disasters, mild to severe, whether personally involved or through the aiding of others. We believe that you can't live in fear, but you also can't be blind to the fact that bad times do happen. We also believe in making sure we are prepared while also being prepared to help others, especially family and friends. Mark has been looking into the FreezerMax system. Thank you for sharing that info. Anyway, enough rambling. Hope you have a great day. Yah's Blessings ❤️ P.S.: Head scratches for Miss Luna. And, it's so adorable seeing how happy Everett is for a plastic snacking fork 😊

I do keep a few things in storage for our cyclone season. Water, batteries for lamps, gas stove, canned food and dry goods. We often will lose power because of severe storms, usually it’s a few hours but on rare occasions it can be a day or two. I then will unfortunately loose my cold goods, no generator here, rely on my cold box and ice to help keep something’s fresh, if I can get ice. 😊

I have my pantry in the basement. It covers everything I would use from shampoo, non perishables to toilet paper. I stock up when there are sales. Kitty litter I stock up to last until June next year. My driveway is steep so in the summer I can drive down to the house and just use a wheelbarrow to wheel it to the basement door. The boxes of litter are 50 pounds each.

I have lived in situations where I couldn't just run to the grocery store... Plus I always over buy... But during this inflation and plndemic I have been able to keep my grocery budget the same because of my extra. I add back to my pantry when I find things on sale or clearance. It has really helped our family. I don't believe in stock piling . God will always provide.. but you also can have some overflow and smart about shopping

Instead of putting date you bought the food, put expiration date, sometimes you buy something & it expires soon or it could be 2-3 years before it expires

We live in the snowbelt in NY. Since we moved here we keep at least 3-4 months worth of food (not including long term food srorage) during the wintery months. We just had 46" of heavy snow come down last week over a couple days. Now this doesn't happen often in that short of a period but hey we weren't hungry and were able to bring food to other neighbors.

Yes I have a small place where I keep extras...I took care of my mom for 11 years after my dad passed...when she passed away I re done her closet and made a pantry out if it...there are shelves on both ends...then I bought clear storage bins and pit my other stuff in...I'm divorced for over 30 years so it's easy to put in what I need..and I labels the bins so I can just pull out what bin I need...I love watching your channel and all you an your family do I live in North Carolina and love to see all the places there..Alaska has always been on my bucket list..not sure I'll ever get there but I so enjoy all your things you post GOD BLESS AND ENJOY YOUR VACATION...
