If the primary had been a real election, it might've mattered but it was a show election very much like Russia's elections. Neither Putin nor Biden had any significant opponents in those elections. And anyone who considered (seriously) running is and would be blackballed if they came close to upsetting the apple cart. It's the reason Sanders, Whitmer, Newsom and more didn't run. It's not because they think they're worse than Joe Biden. It's because they knew it was political suicide to run against him in the primary. That's why Dean Philips was the only "real" candidate. There's always at least one for the show of it. The same thing happened in Obama's 2nd term and Clinton's 2nd term. The difference is that Bill Clinton and Obama crushed their re-election campaigns and there was barely a doubt they would win.

Myself and many of my Democrat aquaintances have discussed the fact the we had all at one point or another wrote to the DNC and complained that Biden wasn't right to represent the party. Many of his actions were not normal Democrat ideals. What made taking action so difficult was that media would only report the left or right of his actions so any criticism was responded too either by accusing us of being MAGA or missunderstanding what was really going on.

If you want a glimpse of Biden at his best, look at his VP debate with paul ryan in 2012. It was epic. But he is pretty far from that today. How can people look at his decline, think two-three years forward and think that 'yeah i'm fine with that' ? It is dangerous and infuriating. He has been a good president in my view, but eventually time catches up with us all. He should have announced two years ago that he is not running again and give others the chance to promote themselves
